View Full Version : New to me Kimber Custom TLE II.
Just bought a Custom TLE II w/a Galco Royal Guard IWB holster, a Galco dual mag pouch two extra Kim Pro (Chip McCormic?) mags and two boxes of 165 gr hydra shock for $650. Gun doesn't appear to have been fired much. Probably going to go shoot tomorrow. Seems like I got a good deal!

Congrats! I hope it runs good at the range.
I have the stainles version with the rail, and the exact same holster. Had it for about 6 years now I think. That holster works really well with it. I'm a skinny guy and just a t-shirt over it conceals it pretty good.

I have one and despite the Kimber bashers, mine has been flawless through 2k rounds. I carry 230g +p HST's for social work.
To me it's a keeper.

Sounds like you got a very good deal Brad. The Kim Pro mags are made by Checkmate and are great mags in my opinion. I have two of the Sparks SS that the Royal Guard was copied from and think they are tops. Kimber puts out some dogs but when they run right they will hold their own quite well.

This just makes up for all the times I lost a little money.
Took it for a quick test drive today. Fired 75 rnds with no problems. All fed, fired and ejected perfectly. I was able to keep everything within a 2" group off hand at 12 yds. Most shots were touching. The thing I love about Kimbers is if they run, they run good!
I'm really liking this one!

what? A Kimber that worked properly? Impossible as we all know from reading Internet gun forums.
:whistling:
Glad yours works just like mine does, Enjoy. It's one of the best values in Kimber's lineup IMO.

Very nice! And it looks like you did get a good deal. My problem with Kimbers is when I get one, I start thinking about my NEXT one.

What do you know, another Kimber that runs perfectly!
Five more, just like that one, and your experience will be the same as minewith Kimbers.
Oh, congrats on the find.

Congratulations. I think you got a very good deal. I have a TLE with VZ Gator Back grips. It is one of my favorite range pistols.
The only - is the magazine release seems to be a little out if spec. If I barely push it the mag drops free. If I depress it all the way it sticks until I let it go then the mag drops. I've taken it out to make sure the mag is not catching on the frame. I've swithched releases from another 1911 and it works perfectly. I've tried Wilson as well as factory mags and it does it no matter which is used. My other 1911 seem like it almost shoots the magazine out instead of just letting it drop free. On the Kimber they don't seem to be springing out. Just seems like gravity alone is dropping them out. I'm probably just going to buy an aftermarket extended one. Maybe a Wilson? If this is the only problem I have I'll be a happy camper!

A 3" 1911 that doesn't work, say it isn't so. :whistling:

I have the same pistol!
Great shooter. Totally reliable right out of the box and very accurate. Been shooting it heavy for the past 3 years.
Ignore the Kimber bashers and blaze away. Every Kimber I have borrowed and shot was very nice and worked every shot.

My Custom TLE II has also been perfect since day one. Couldn't agree with brickboy's last sentence more! Congrats on a great gun!

I'm really liking it! This makes the 4th Kimber I've owned. The first one (Pro Carry II w/external extractor back in 05) was the only one I had any trouble with. I've already turned down an offer for $900 for this one. That'd be a nice profit of $250 but that's what'd it take to replace it so I'll keep it for a while.

Mine is awesome also. No problems shooting, targets get hit within my tolerances, the takedown seems a little different with a full length guide rod, but it is not a problem. The night sights are about 5yrs old still bright as day one. I usually carry Wilson mags, but Shooting Stars do okay. I found a WW1 mag pouch (Khaki US Army) and 2 -7rd mags loaded with ball 230 gr. goes along as my 3rd and 4th back up mags in my glovebox. The mags are dated 1972 so probably Viet Nam era. They work perfectly. Enjoy your Kimber!
