Here's my dilemma. I want a full size 9mm to complement my G19 and G26. I have decided 9mm is plenty of firepower for me, so my G22 is kind of...extra baggage.

My choices are to (1) sell the G22 and buy a G17 or (2) convert the G22 to 9mm. Needless to say, I don't want to give up reliability. I already have G17 mags that I planned to use in a new pistol.

I've read lots of prior threads about conversion, but don't yet feel confident that converting my G22 from .40 to 9mm will give me the same performance as a new G17; that's the performance level I must have.

Some say buy the conversion barrel and you're good to go. Others say change the extractor, too. Some also say it is also necessary to change the recoil spring. There doesn't seem to be a definitive guide for making the change in a way that real transformation from a G22 to G17 will take place.

What am I to do? Either course of action is affordable.

I picked up my Gen4 G17 a few weeks ago and love it! I would grab one of those and add to your collection before conversion if you can afford it

Buy a Lone Wolf conversion barrel and some 9mm magazines and you are good to go like I did with mine. No other changes and works perfectly!

However if you don't like it sell it and get a 17 and I think you will not loose anything selling the 22 with the conversion barrel.

Remove the G22 slide assy and simply attach a G17 slide/barrel/recoil guide/spring. I was going to post one for sale. I'll shoot you a PM.

the reliability of a new pistol..........................G17 Slide Assy has been sold Thanks

You break even if you buy a G17, and sell the G22. How much do you want the G22?

Otherwise you have to put out $$$ to do the conversion.

I'm shure if you posted it WTT someone would be willing to trade a G17 for your G22.
