Which do you prefer? The Pro has a better stock trigger and is longer, comes stock with green fiber optic and is usually little more expensive but not much. Or go with the 9L and add an Apex kit.

I have the Pro and it shoots great for me as is.
One of the other IDPA shooters I know had http://www.bowietacticalconcepts.com/mandpprices.html
do a trigger job and some other work. He ended up shipping the Pro to Smith to put it all back to stock which of course was NOT under warranty.
Light strikes and a very flakey trigger was the reason for the return to Smith.
Is Apex any better?

I don't think I put 1K through my Pro since I installed the Apex kit, but, I've run Federal, Winchester, and CCI primers through it, and they worked fine. The Apex kit consists of "drop in" parts, so, if you don't like them, just take them back out.

There were issues with some of the early M&Ps giving light strikes, and broken strikers. S&W has redesigned the strikers.
