Looks like Mike Madigan called in a favor from his little girl (as if she wasn't already his puppet). She directed her subordinates to write a report claiming that ISP should release the names of FOID card holders to the public.

Today, ISP released the following statement (

Released: March 2, 2011

The Illinois State Police respectfully disagrees with the recent opinion of the Attorney Generalís Public Access Counselor (PAC) regarding the release of names of Firearm Owner Identification cardholders. The Department intends to request that the PAC issue a binding opinion so that the issue may be resolved through the judicial process.

Telephone: 217-782-6637
TDD: 1-800-255-3323

So far the ISP has resisted stating these names are confidential however clearly the Attorney General's office is on the move to get those names published. There is a bill pending that would prevent ISP from caving.

This is absolutely insane. Why doesn't she focus on maybe dealing with the foreclosure crisis in Cook County, or some beneficial environmental initiative dealing with invasive species, or perhaps helping this state solve its crippling budget crisis?

I was just amazed at the gall when I heard this story on the radio. Who is she to order other independent state agencies to follow her directives?

Let this go all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court- there's some pretty smart people down there in Springfield, and they won't have this kind of declaratory lawmaking taking place. The justices have life tenure. They don't need to make political statements like the Madigans do. They will interpret the law for what it is, not what Cook County democrats wish it was.

/end of rant!

This state is doomed, budget crisis?? HOW??? I pay $44,000 per year in property taxes for 13,000sq./ft. commercial property. And thats just 1 small buisness, cant imagine how they rob the bigger buildings in Elk Grove. It seems politicians only want to handle the non important issues.

Gotta love how she can focus on something that will fix none of the problems the state is facing. Maybe once their done with this Madigan will recommend an end to the death penalty...oh, wait, nevermind...
