I had been loading Hornady SP 55 grain bullets. I switched over to Hornady FMJ 55 grain. I noticed the FMJ bullets were seating just over the cannalure (the case mouth is just over) Both bullets came out at 2.20 OAL. I measured the FMJ bullets and they are a little longer than the soft points I've been using 24.5grns of H335 with the soft point bullets. Am I ok?

As long as they fit in and feed from the mag you are good to go.

2.26" is max, I've seen that jam in a 100round beta mag.

24.5gr of H335 is not a hot load for 55gr.

Edited to add: I wouldn't seat any deeper than .2.20" though.

Thank you. I wanted to double check, I was afraid it might affect pressure some. I'll shoot these. Do you think I should adjust so they load to cannalure? Does it matter?

Just adjust your COAL out to 1.225" so you can crimp into the cannalure! If your crimping them!:supergrin:

I dop a very light crimp. I will adjust my die to seat better. I was just wondering about shooting the 50 I already did. Thanks for the help guys.

I seat the Hornady 55 fmj's to 2.218-2.220" which puts the cannelure at the case mouth. From 2.218-2.230" works fine in AR's. You're good with 24.5 grains of H335. I've loaded up to 25.3 with no issues.
