I asked a question on the 1911 forum last week about a first upgrade to a stock Colt Combat Commander. The consensus was sights. I did not intend to do anything about the sights for a while but after having taken the pistol shooting the other day I just noticed that the front sight is loose and comes up a good bit when the slide cycles (front sight is staked.)
My question to this forum is what are some decent, visible, fixed sights that are not uber-expensive? I am not wanting night sights, I like having dots or an outline for the rear sight, and I want to keep the front sight staked-- I don't want to go through having the the front of the slide milled for a dovetail. With these considerations, what are your recommendations? Thanks for all your advice (in advance!)
