That is the Day it all started with the military service of the 1911.

Im holding out my next purchase until the 29th

Ive narrowed it down to a Range Officer, Colt Rail Gun or a traditional GI styled gun like the American Classic (i like blued guns), Rock Island or Springfield GI.

Gonna suck if your dealer is sold out at the end of the month. :wavey:

The COLT "OFFICER'S ULTIMATE" is one of my favorites and I will have one...

As you can see from my list, im a whore and will take any that will have me

I would be happy with any of them and whatever i end up with will be my 100yr celebration pistol even if its not sold as a centennial model.

Well, if it's going to be your celebration of the 1911, get the Springfield GI.

The centennails suck IMO.

Just my opinion, of course. Your other choices should be good to go as well.

I am waiting on a 1911 from Colt that I ordered from the armorer's course I took last year. It would be pretty funny if it got here on that date.

I'm working on something. I should get it just about then, and it would be more than worthy of the centennial date. Bac knows of what I speak...

I wouldn't mind getting a Range Officer myself. :)

I'm ordering a Caspian 'classic' frame that will have the date in the serial number. And slide with GI sight cuts.

I'm kinda feeling I'm due for another one, but when the right one and right price comes along. :dunno:

I actually have a use for a 5" with night sights. Thinking maybe TRS..?? :dunno:

If I ever get another Baer, the TRS will be it. :)

One wonders if people realize that the M1911 was around several years previously in one incarnation or another. What I would like is to find a real good 1905 or 1910.

I give you the 1900 Colt. It was designed in 1897 and is the direct descendant to the M1911. It was chambered for the .38 ACP round.

I did slap down 400 today on a Springfield GI milspec.
While I have better 1911's, I find this SA to be just about the perfect 1911 for me.
It has everything I want, an non of the added crap I don't

If the gods would be nice enough, I'll receive my NH Predator by then!!! Fingers crossed.

If someone wants a RO, let me know! I have 2 and I cant give them away... I can ship it via USPS as well and its like under $10. It wont be there as quickly as UPS' next day air, but it'll save a good $20.

I had one for 4 days, then the old owner begged to buy it back. LOL It was cool though, he is a friend and his wife freaked when he bought it and he freed up some funds to buy it back.

I shot 300rds through it and really enjoyed it. LIked it better than my Loaded's and almost as much as my Trojan.

Thanks Bac.

I find myself shunning what I used to like.
The beavertails and commander hammers just don't do it for me anymore.
I never liked the front cocking serrations, but lived with them for the most part.

My 2011 purchase is a new Colt Series 70 reissue. I pick it up Friday morning, about 10 hours from now. Close enough to the 29th for me. ;)

I would be over whelmed with joy if the gun I ordered was delivered on that date...but I doubt it...

I either bought 4 or 5 1911s already this year so I think I'm good for now.

Just picked up a RIA GI last night and am waiting for a long solid steel trigger from Sarco to show up because I don't like the shorter lengths. I'm defiantly keeping this one in total "GI" configuration though.....well as GI as the RIA gets.

The only attractive Centennial models I've seen so far are from Cylinder & Slide and Colt.

No, I had my eye on an original Swenson. It fell through. Now I have to figure out what Plan B is.

I have a Sig 1911 Scorpion on order but I don't know when it will arrive. I am more of a modern 1911 fan than a classic 1911 fan. I am one of the guys that likes the night sights, rails, beavertail grip safeties, etc. I don't think it's an insult at all to John Browning. If he were alive, I REALLY doubt he would still be making the same gun he was making 100 years ago.
