I am trying to decide on my next 1911 and I am looking at a Baer Stinger stainless, Ed brown Special Forces two tone, SA Custom Pro or TRP stainless. I am looking to purchase within the next few weeks and I was just looking for some suggestions on what some of you 1911 gurus would select and why. My current 1911 line up consists of a Wilson CQB Compact, Kimber Ultra Raptor stainless, Kimber Ultra Crimson Trace, and SA EMP 9mm. The pistol will be used for fun and not carry and mostly a safe queen. I am leaning more towards the Baer Stinger as I love a commander stainless 1911!! All comments and suggestions are welcomed and thanks!

Get 2 RIAs and send one to me .... I would go with the Baer just because. To be honest though, I don't think I could EVER bring myself to spend more then $1500 on ANY gun. Even if I was a millionaire that would hurt ...

Haha, I hear ya. I am no millionaire by any means, but I do however love nice 1911's. I don't play golf or spend money on money pit cars and you only live once. I am leaning towards the Baer but I am open to suggestions too and thanks for yours. Also, I meant to post this in the 1911 forum, but made the rookie mistake of posting it here. :faint:

It's funny you ask this. I have been thinking about the same thing for the last couple of weeks. I have a WC on order right now and I am debating what to get next. The only difference between you and I is the Brown. I have the Centennial EE on my mind. I haven't been able to choose but would love to hear what others think.

You've already got a good supply of compacts and sub-compacts. While I love both of my Les Baer 1911's, it doesn't look like you need another compact. I am very impressed with the Springfield custom shop, but the particular models you're looking at are not in that category. I'd got with the 2-tone Brown Special Forces out of your list. I have one, and love it. It also seems like it would best compliment what you already have.

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. For those of you who have ordered a Springfield custom pro, how long did it take to order. I have seen some people waiting a year+ to get one. I talked to Deb as SACS a few weeks ago about a Custom Carry build and that was 10+ months. Pros are well over a year.

I will probably go through George also and order a Baer and the Pro at the same time just so that I can get on the waiting list. I am going to finish paying on the WC first then see what I decide after that.

pick up a used Baer or Brown in the meantime, have fun blasting them, when your eventual choice arrives, keep the one you like best, sell the others*.....

*actually this never works you'll end up keeping them all.....
I recently picked up a Kobra, an EE and a Baer Custom carry. I thought I'd like the EE the best, but the Kobra has grown on me. I can see why people refer to Baer as "working mens guns". Whereas everything on the Browns is very polished and finished and neat, the Baer has sharper edges and checkering that looks like something I did myself, with a bread knife, late at night. But I really, really like it. Possible more than the Browns. So, I still have all of them

I like the job Baer does on the trigger guard undercut better for sure. Not crazy about the sights LB uses. Better barrel on the LB as compared to current SA setup.

Despite it not being the most visually appealing, I like Baer's checkering more too. I don't like how SA cuts it short of the top. The first thing changed on my TRS was the sights, too bad Baers' ego is too big to offer choices.

I've been going through Baer withdrawal lately. I want a heavyweight Monolithic, naked slide, no FCS, 20lpi FS/MSH, and 1.5". In fact, I would actually like it if they'd build me a Stinger Monolithic.

I'm under hardcore withdrawal, I haven't seen my Baer in months. I almost bought a second to make up for the wait. I think I'll get an SRP down the road.

Your specs sound sweet, I've thought about a HW. I wish I would have gotten 20lpi on mine but didn't bother to ask if they offered it, but I'm not sure they did then.
