Clark Custom Guns. They have a stellar reputation for quality and innovation. Anybody have one or shot one?

My buddy has one of the Melt guns being built. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

I was told they're as good as it gets for function and accuracy.

I guess I'll find out firsthand as soon as he gets it. We can and will, compare it to my 2 Wilson's, Guncrafter, Baer, Nighthawk, STI Legacy, customized Kimber with Kart barrel and customized Colt with Bar-Sto barrel.

When will he get it? I am thinking of getting a Melt Down done.

That's the one he's getting. They told him a year build time. I didn't get a chance to go to Clark with him, down around Shreveport, when he went, but he said they were great to deal with and he was very impressed. I had been wanting one myself, and when I showed him some pics, he started looking into them. Realized that they were just about 1.5 hours away and went down to check them out in person. Can't wait to check it out and get to shoot it. Gonna be pretty sweet.

I better get on the ball and get a base gun sent to them. Thanks. I have had a hard time finding anyone that has one. That said the few that I have found loved them, even after a couple years.

He's a member on here, Tejasshooter. I'll try to give him a call and let him chime in on here to go into more detail about it, especially since it's his.

I ordered mine November 2010. The Meltdown is one sweet piece. I pawed one at the Clark shop and fell straight in love with it. My build has many extras. I will post the build sheet when it is emailed to me. Just waiting on Caspian to respond to Clark about some of my extra requests.

Gonna be sweet. Can't wait to shoot it. We'll have to do a round table shoot off with the other semi-customs. :)

I just looked at their site. They look like they do nice work and the prices aren't all that bad. I can't wait to see this one.

I can't wait to see it either. I'm just glad I could to talk Dane out of going with a Damascus slide.

I think it actually looks good. It would definitely be BBQ gun though. Not that I wouldn't shoot it often but I wouldn't carry it.

I had a full custom Springfield 1911 built by Clark. Probably the worst case of sellers remorse I've ever had. I wish I'd kept the thing. No one builds a better pistol. The one I had also was very high polish, finished in Carbona Blue (out sourced by Clark). Carbona is the most beautiful finish on earth if done correctly. I, on occasion, go crazy and think I have an excess of pistols and sell some off. Well that time it was a GREAT mistake. I've never even seen a Carbona Blue pistol since. I'm a sick man I tell you. Clark takes a back seat to no builder. Not Wilson, Baer, or any other custom shop in my opinion. Few make their way to Virginia though.

How did it shoot?

IIRC, Clark told my buddy that they had an accuracy guarantee of a 10 shot 2.5" @ 50 yards. Flyer's included. I think that's only for their guns that they completely build though. Don't know if that applies to a gun you send them or not. Not too shabby. Plus, the new one's come with a reliability package as well.

The one I had was a tack driver and slick as a whistle. Now that I am thinking about it. I may send a custom 1911 I have that has some blue worn off out to have it Carbona Blued. Nothing looks like it.
