I bought a Wilson mag the other day for my STI Escort, so far I've got about 150 rounds through the mag and 400 through the gun. The factory mag that came with it has been perfect but every so often while using the Wilson mag the slide will not go into battery. It stops about 1/4 in. to short. Has this happened to anyone else? The store I bought the mag from also had KimPro mags with the metal round follower like my factory mag. Would those be better? I have used Wilson's before in commander sized 1911's with good results, maybe I just got a bad one. Can someone shed some light on this for me.

Really though, try contacting Wilson.
They didn't much care about my magazine problems, but who knows.

Have you contacted Wilson Combat?

Impossible!

 nice. I talked to the shop that I bought it from and the guy said to bring it back and exchange it for another Wilson or any other mag they have. So what's yall's opinion on the KimPro mags? Might give them a try.

Mine have been flawless, couldn't be happier. The floor plates have proven to be secure, yet easy to disassemble.

I have had good luck with the Kimber magazines. I have bought several for myself, and given several as a gift. No one has complained.

Only time I had a problem with a Wilson mag was the officer size in my first Kimber UC II. It worked with any other compact or government size magazine. KimPro Tac mags are all I use in my RIA compact and 2nd Kimber UC II.

Looks like the KimPro's are well liked. Hopefully I can get by the store before the weekend and exchange it. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Sorry it took so long to get back. The new Kimpro mag has been 100%. Although I only have about 75 rnds through it, but it's looking like a winner. Thanks guys for the help.

Probably the best cheap magazine out there is the ones made by MetalForm.
You can get standard 7 rounders from CDNNInvestments for around 10.00 or so a mag.

The Kimber mags are great, but at 25+ a pop they can be quite expensive.
