I have a question, I am new to 1911's so please be kind! :wavey:
I bought a new Sig Sauer 1911 C3. Sig call's it a "compact". Would it be considered an Officer size? Commander? Neither? I am assuming that it would take compact 7 round mags right? I have thought about picking up some mags other than those from Sig, would Wilson Combat compact mags work?

Told you I was a 1911 newb...

Just a few more newbie questions I promise....

CCO - Concealed Carry Officer right?

It does take the compact size mags right?

Is that stock? Doesn't the magwell negate the whole officer grip thing?

That is so hot! I ordered a full size stainless finish w/rail Sig 1911. I was told 3-5 weeks. Cheers!

Yep, that's the way it came from the factory. The magwell is new this year on the C3.

I've been eying one of those real hard as my first 1911. They seem to offer a heck of a lot for the money. Looks nice!

Not a fan of magwells. Just removed mine from my Kimber Tactical Pro.

And here I thought the question was going to be whether size mattered. . .

It's not the size of your barrel that's important...it's the size of your load and where you put it that really matters.

That's a great size carry gun, IMO. Kimber calls it a "Compact", DW a CCO. Sig a C3 ;-)

Yes, officer sized magazines.

I've been thinking about a SIG 1911 but have read about them being ammo sensitive. anyone have exp with sooting reloads thru them? or problems with a particular factory type

I've had three and know of several more..never heard of that problem...???

Doesn't mean it did not exist for somebody else.
