Dan Wesson that is :whistling: Long story short: Had a Kimber, didn't like it. Picked up a bunch of other guns over the past 8 months and decided last week I needed to try another 1911. Picked this up and love it! Have 300 flawless rounds through it so far. Damn thing is a tack driver (at least in the hands of my buddy).

Only 500 made this year. Forged frame, tool steel fire controls, match barrel, just absolute sweetness!

When I bought my Heritage, I feel like I got more gun than I expected for
my $$$$. Thats a pretty good compliment for any purchase. Because of
that, I have a Valor on order.

The DW owners should get together and form a club... :animlol:

Don't worry, here's my CCO:

The Heritage is a hell of a nice gun out of the box at it's price. Just wish they did the FS. Kind of like the EMP, at that price, still can't believe these two aren't checkered.

THat's why the price on them are lower. If you want the FSC, buy the Valor.

What are the other differences to justify the price jump? FSC can be done for $200ish. Price increase is $400-500 to a Valor.

Thanks guys! I'm probably going to leave it as is as far as any FSC goes. I may pick up another, like the CCO or VBob to carry. As it is it is very nice to shoot. I remember now why I like the 1911 platform.

polish the rest of the pistol vs the main flats on the Heritage.

The price hike for just those two options are steep. It's like them charging an additional $400 for the "duty" finish.

About 250 is the difference with the right seller. Then add in the Heine straight 8's and the VZ grips.

Thanks Alan. I knew the Heinies and the VZ were on there, just wasn't sure if there were significant differences like CBOB - VBOB internally and so forth.

It is about $300 to 325 for actual street prices with a good dealer.

I can debate it is a good deal at that price....and I can debate it is too much. So I still haven't made my mind up yet about that subject.

As far as I know, that is the only real differences. Other than the ledge style slide stop and thick bushing. I call the Heritages "Valor Lite's". Put on some skate tape on the Heritage and have the same function as a Valor. Actually for some LEO or CCW it mayyy be a better option as checkering gets beat to Hades.

throw in to and from shipping and you're near $400. My price accounted for shipping.

I hate the internet, so easy for me to get confused as opposed to talking in person..

Are you talking sending a regular gun out to somebody to have it refinished? (That's what you meant by to and from shipping?)

or

Buying a Duty Finish gun as made from factory?

I'm confused (as usual) about the "to and from shipping"..

No problem. Sometime I assume myself...

My point is that DW charges way too much for that additional "Duty" treatment. They get their guns done in bulk, therefore, the price *should* be less for that "upcharge" on the treatment. However, they're not passing that saving onto their customer. Therefore, the price is the same as if one were to send in their SS Valor (or any other gun) and have it Melonite treated, hence the "to and from" shipping that I had reference.

I can totally see if the Duty Valor were $200-$225 more, then it would be "fair," in my eyes.

I had literally LOL when I saw the price difference at my LGS.

Gotcha now. Like I said earlier, I could debate both ways depending which way the wind is currently blowing up my skirt.

A. What you said.

B. By the time you spend the money for S/H of the gun and the treatment itself you are near 3 bills or slightly over. 3 bills or slightly over is what a good shop charges extra for the factory job. Then you might worry about gun damage from the after factory treatment and voiding your warranty.

Like I said...every other day I have a different opinion on this subject.:dunno:

I don't know exactly what the "Duty finish" is , but the Hard Hat on my VBOB was around $350 plus shipping to and from, so you could argue that the upcharge is or is not overpriced depending on what finish you might choose to add to a stainless gun .

03-28-2011, 14:49
Congrats on your new Heritage! I've got 5 or 6 DW's in the stable (I don't remember any more) and have loved each and every one. I think you're in for a treat, both now and in the future.

I was back and forth about sending my CBOB to Dave to HardHat, but after talking to Keith...had decided to send it to him to have it bead blasted for like half the price. Oh well.

I think the Heritage is by far the most sexy DW around. the original CBOB was pretty damn nice and the new CCO is slick too but the Heritage just has something about it thats just different in a good way.

Very nice:) If I could get a decent trade in on my Kimber TLE, I would jump for a DW although there is always the debate as to which model.

I wonder if the smooth finish will show scratches easily. I haven't checked prices but I have thought about just sending the slide off for the Hard Hat treatment when it needs it. That should make a nice two tone gun at a lower price than the full treatment.

The DW owners should get together and form a club... :animlol:

I think they already have an exclusive club: COTEP (Congregation Of The Enlightened Pistoleros).

I know it's hard to sense the sarcasm when reading over the interweb. I was only poking fun of this topic COTEP membership since it was recently a discussion on here.
