View Full Version : Sell my Pro for???

I've been considering unloading my Pro since they have been selling for high $ lately. Mine doesn't have the normal safe queen appearance that most have, so I know I won't get the same premium but I should get enough to buy something else.

And that leads into my question. What to replace it with? I have more than enough pistols as it is, so there is nothing I can't live without.

I've thought about a Brown, but I honestly wasn't overly impressed with the 2 I've shot. I felt the same about Wilson at first but ended up with a great CQB.

Baer's have never let me down and I've thought about a second TRS or a SRP.

I've spoke with George about a Guncrafter NN. He gave my a great price from what I have seen. I'm not crazy about the style of grip safety they use, but I could tweak it as needed.

I already have a NH but my Enforcer has made me consider another NH of sorts. Not sure if I'd get another Enforcer or a plain GRP.

And my final thought, sell the Pro, buy a M&P 9mm and about $1500 worth of reloading components and have fun with what I have.

Hmmm...

The M&P angle is an interesting one. You can purchase a ton of stuff for $1,500.00
Just be aware though, the M&P's are not nearly as accurate as the TRP Pro is, so it won't make you look as good.

I have both pistols and both are fun to shoot.

Sometimes a person just has too many choices...

While I haven't shot a M&P 9, I do own a full size 45. It is VERY accurate, head shots at 25 yards with ease as long as I do my part.

For my shooting, I'm not concerned about 1.5" vs 3" group sizes..or whatever, but point well taken.

I would say a Wilson, but since you already have one how about a Pistol Dynamics Scout? I would love to have one of those.

If you're thinking of dabbling in the devil's own 9mm, how about a nice Custom Browning HP ? Pick up one of the Israeli imports and send it off to Williams or Garthwaites for a bit of spit and polish...and a CZ75 whilst you're at it

I have given a Tactical Elite some thought, but I'm not looking for a full custom. A little more than I want to spend right now.

I have a Novak BHP, but another BHP would be nice. A local shop just got a few in too.

I'm in no rush here, I want to make the right choice.

Geez, you're making it sound like all other 1911's are POS's compared to the Pro.

Been there, done that. I've had major durability issues with 45acp Glocks. 9mm Glocks on the other hand have never failed me.

I wish I had, but I went with a Glock 34 at the time and don't need another 9mm that size. Nothing wrong with the 34 though, great for HD use how I set it up.

My S.A. Custom Carry is on Gunbroker.

I just can't shoot a 1911 as well as a 9mm Glock. Even though my good 1911s cost what 4 Glocks would, I enjoy my Glocks more.

I've tried very hard to be a 1911 guy for the last 3 years and it just ain't happenin'.

It's all about what works for you. I'm trying to keep my 1911's in CCW use for the time being, but will switch back to a G19/34 or similar if the need arises. I don't know if I should give up on my recent SA's yearly testing and use something else or??? That test hasn't went how I hoped.

I've gotten sloppy not shooting my Glocks lately :faint:

The old days were much easier and simpler.

I get grief for my Berettas, but that's what works for me. :)

May not be forever, but for now, that's what I like.

BuT I still got my SOCS Operator :)

Most accurate 9mm I've ever shot, especially with such light recoil.

Hell, if I come across 1 more Beretta 92with factory night sights - I think part of that last $930 I have left over from my Ed Brown will be going in that direction (I bought a hockey jersey last night, so I spent a tiny bit on that :) )

GJ1981
03-29-2011, 19:55
I'd like a 92G. A buddy got a 96G with night sights that were local PD's for $200. I was deployed at the time otherwise I would have had one set aside.

I had not shot a gun since Thanksgiving until I shot an IDPA match Sunday.

I used my EDC G-19RTF2 with stock trigger and I shot it as well as I shoot anything and it was a breath of fresh air.

I chamber checked all my ammo (115 grain WWB) before the match and let it rip. Easy reloads, no thumb safety, slide serrations or slide stop to rub on or get in the way of my thumbs.

I don't game it at all, I used my EDC gun in a Milt Sparks VM-II.

I shot 3 out of 5 stages clean, albeit a little slow, then I botched the last stage (shot it backwards). I got 6th overall out of 22, which usually sucks, but I felt pretty good about it considering the time since I last shot and most of the guys there were practiced up for a major match this weekend.

I can say this. The only malfunctions I witnessed that day were a Glock 34 (a brand new one that my buddy polished and modified into a POS on Saturday) and a S&W revolver that went down for good during the last stage.

The guys who run 1911s down here have their stuff together and they rarely miss a beat.

I have a very nicely setup M&P9L with all the apex goodies and Warren sights and trigger bar tweaks and.....I'm just spoiled by a 1911 trigger.

At local matches a Master shooter did things with my M&P that was pure awesomeness. Reiterated that it's the shooter and not the firearm for all intent and purpose. So that brings me back to which firearm makes me smile even when just looking at it.

A nice 1911 does whether it's more accurate or not. Yet my friend who is a 1911 nut enjoys owning other firearms even ones that are inferior according to internet forum lore. Gasp, he bought a striker fired 9mm with 3 dot sights. How dare he!

But it is though, Pros have went up dramatically since last week. 17K is the new average, otherwise I wouldn't have 100 hi-points on order.

And all those suckers who sold theirs for under 3K.

Well it's nearly the same as a 1911, as intended.

M&Ps are neat guns, tried my best to like them, kept going back to Glocks. Personally, I'd do the reloading supplies.
