I have been using a 6" BAR-STO barrel in my G-20. For the most part it has worked well. I use fairly hot reloads (12gr blue dot 180gr lead bullet) and also DT ammo 230gr hardcast. When using a 21# recoil spring the DT jam from time to time. When I switch to the factory spring it shoots great. On the other hand my reloads jam (4 out of 30 rounds) with this same set up. I have polished the feed ramp and surrounding areas. It helped but still does it. Any ideas? Hopefully the pictures turn out.

Looks like a weak magazine spring to me. From your post you say 21# mag spring but i'm going to assume that you meant recoil spring. When running recoil springs over the factory weight it's not a bad idea to use an extra power magazine spring.

I would think the factory spring would need the heavier mag springs because the slide is moving faster. Just my take.

Lots of variables in those pics. Different ammo, different ammo specs, recoil springs, aftermarket barrel, but one sweet G20.

The only problem I have with my G20SF is when I use a 'heavier' spring on weaker loads. I'll get jams like the ones you've got pictured. I've also heard reliable reports of the slide velocity being too high if shooting hot loads with the factory recoil spring.

Beyond that, there's 30 or 40 other things that could be fouling up your yo' gat.

Yes I do mean recoil spring. I just got back in from shooting again. What I have noticed is with the stock recoil spring and the DT 235gr hard cast my G-20 shoots great without jamming. With the 21# recoil spring the DT loads jam on occasions.
The reloads jam quite often. It seems to me it is a power issue with my reloads. They seem to have a lot more of it maybe warrenting the heavey recoil spring. I would think if any round would jam it would be the WFNGC hardcast ones. My reloads seem pretty hot compaired to the DT loads. In saying that I still love the DT rounds. I will have to crony them both. Maybe that will shed some light on things. Also I will switch back to the 21# recoil spring and shoot just reloads.

How well does bone stock work for you? I had issues with DT 230 WFNGC in an aftermarket barrel.

You no thats a good question. I have been trying to get my Bar-Sto barrel to work so I really don't remember. Though I can say the Bar-Sto barrel and the 230gr hard cast DT with the stock G-20 recoil spring works wonderfully.

Try it. They say the stock barrel is not good for lead, and others say no problem, but there's nothing wrong with a little maintenence now and again. I suppose the trade off in having a better supported chamber is reliability. Keep it clean, and you should be good. Bar-Sto barrels are regarded by many as the best around.

Hardcase (with copper gas check) and in the STOCK GLOCK barrel the bullet tumbled badly and was totally inaccurate. Mid video he switched to a lonewolf and everything went perfect.

I am a big fan of the stock spring in Glock 20s. (17 pound). I will admit to running a 20 pounder in one of my G20s

The yellow one...and it runs 100% with my hot hand loads. I have shot some DT 200 grain flat nose (never the 230 grain)..and it runs perfect as well.

Let me throw out some ideas off the top.

Your G20 is a 2004...they have a new follower for the magazine now that puts the bullet in a better posture for feeding. Only a couple of bucks from GLOCKMEISTER.COM

Your G20 has the old mag springs (10 loop)....get some WOLFF Spring (plus 10 percent) to replace those original springs.

Keep running the stock spring. Even hot ammo should feed. Perhaps your stock spring is OLD as well..replace it. It might be weak and only putting out 15 pounds and you would never know it.

Bump down the DT 230 to a DT 200 grain. I don't have any 230 to measure OAL (over all length) but my 200 grain measures out at 1.260 ish. I suspect the flat nose profile on the 230 grainers might be harder to get up that ramp on the barstow. Keep in mind that these DT loads are NOT HOT loads like the BOX FLAP says. You can subtract 150 FPS from their advertised speeds. I consider double tap hot .40 only.

Good luck and enjoy SPRING in Alaska!

Bob

Thanks all parts are on order. Maybe I should just buy a new G-20SF:supergrin:
