This is my wife’s carry gun and was just wondering if there was anything that can be done to make the recoil spring a little weaker.

Pretty tough to do on the 9mm because it is recoil sensitive. Try shooting different loads 115/124/147. Check out Wolff Gun Springs for different recoil spring weights.
