25grns Varget, Horn 75gr BTHP out of a RRA 18" varminter. Approx 2750 fps. Nikon Monarch 4-16x-42. I have hit 20oz water bottles @ 400yds and swung bowling pins @ 500 with this load

Not saying I could do it every shot, 5-6 out of 10 maybe, real close on the others

Don't know about 1:8, but my Savage 12FV has 1:9 barrel and I have some really great 100yd groups using 25gr of H335. Waiting to get out and test them in my Bushmaster which also has a 1:9 barrel.
Varget, TAC, Benchmark or RL-15.
