Flash suppressor change.

Want to remove the birdcage flash suppressor on my flat top AR
and install a Vortex F/S. Can this safely be done by putting the
upper receiver in an upper receiver vise block, securing it in a vise,
and then unscrewing the old and screwing on the new suppressor without
damaging the upper or barrel.
I guess what I'm asking is, is that enough support for making the change,
or should the barrel be removed and secured in a barrel clamp instead of using
an upper receiver vise block. Many thanks.

it is best to use a barrel vise because if you screw the barrel out of the barrel extension it will be a costly trip to a gunsmith. If you want to try it in a receiver vise try it with a little pressure to see if the flash comes loose quick, if it is very tight get a barrel vise.
