I've been having so much fun shooting mouse fart loads in my 38spl, I want to load some in 9mm and see how I like shooting them. My guns all have factory springs which I'm not willing to change, so the loads will have to function at least a stock G19.

What I'd like to know is some of your favorite powders for powder puff 9mm loads with 147gr bullets. I'm using plated, so if you shoot lead or jacketed, just let me know so I can extrapolate.

I have BE, TB, WSF, 2400, Unique, and WST. Very interested in if someone has any data for BE or WST. And of course I'm willing to buy other powders as well. Really I just want a light 147gr round. It's easy to find WSF data, but I'd like to try a faster powder.

I'll be chrono'ing these rounds when I test them.

You start going below much below 900fps, beware of accuracy issues.

I started out with "mouse fart" loads (125'ishpf), and accuracy sucked. IMHO, 147gr at 130PF is a mouse fart load compared to an equally loaded 115grainer.

I ran WSF for awhile and liked it, switched to VVN320 only because I heard it was good with moly's... which I never even tried. About to go back to TG.

I can give you loads for TG, WSF, and N320 if you want.

I find 3.6 grains of Johnson's Baby powder under a 147 grain to be exceptionally quiet with easily controllable recoil. Just the ticket for California shooters. :whistling:

I've loaded 147gr FMJ over 4.4 gr of True Blue, 1.125 OAL and had an average of 826 fps. Thats about as soft as you want to go with TB.

Thanks Ron, this is just the stuff I needed to know. Maybe I'll go buy some TG, just don't tell Fred:supergrin:

I wish I could find some VV powder local, no one sells it.

How much WSF are you using, around 3.5gr?

Noted, thanks.

Is BE going to not work with 147gr bullets? I figured since people use TG, BE may work also.

3.6g of AA#2 or 4.7g of Power Pistol with 147g CMJ is what I'm using.

My G-19 functions well and shoots accurately with plated 147 FP's at around 850 fps. 900-925 gives top accuracy.
I use IMR SR 7625.
I have used Titegroup with good results for the 147's.

Plated or FMJ 147g in 9mm.... Titegroup is the ultimate mouse fart load. As Rone stated earlier stay between 900-920 for the best accuracy and load short 1.110 to 1.130 depending on what bullet you got with.

Ya, although Fred may hate TG, but I have heard him say it's great in mouse fart loads. And I'm sure I can find it local.

WHy mess w/ another powder, if you want to call TG a powder. You already load WST, try 3.2gr & work around that, see how accuracy goes. I seem to get best accuracy running around 900fps, but I honestly haven't tried to go much lower.:dunno:

consisting of 3.8grns. WST w/147grn. bullet. Good for 940fps through an average length barrel. Very accurate, clean burning and low recoiling it's my standard 9mm reload for just about everything.

No, it was 4.1gr of WSF with a 147gr Montana Gold CMJ loaded at 1.135".

Avg 910fps.

Load up some of those, then put in a magazine alternated with some WWB 115gr stuff (one 147gr, one 115gr, repeat) and go shoot 'em. Both are around 132PF.

You'll sh1t bricks.

I love this forum. I'll play around with WSF and WST. I've never loaded 147gr bullets before so I bet I'll really like them.

Thanks guys.

I load my cast 147grLTC w/ 3.8gr of WSF, makes about 900fps, pretty soft shooting. For when I feel like shooting like a lady & using a 9mm.:tongueout: They are really quit accurate in my LW G17.

can't help you on your powders. my mouse fart is 2.8 - 3 grn. of TG behind a 147. might have to drop the spring weight a bit.

Drop that down to 3.5r WST, 147gr Xtreme plated at 1.145" gave me an avg of 886FPS from a well used G17 and no function issues.

3.4gr Universal at 1.122" (same bullets) gave about the same velocity. Both are incredibly soft shooting.

I have never tried TG with 147. I have run 124 as low as 3.7. gr TG and that made power factor but was not strong enough to run stock springs. 4.1 is the BE forum standard for minor in 124.
I have a friend that shoots 3.0 with MBC 135 gr lead.
SO if I was going to WAG it I would start around somewhere form 3.0 to 3.3.

I loaded up some WST and WSF last night. I would really like to find some BE data. Maybe I'll check Brian Enos' forum.

3.5 bullseye with a 147 berry's plated at 1.140 out of a glock 19 gives me around 900fps velocity (130 PF).

Thanks. After some research I was going to try 3.3gr. Thanks for the input.

How's the recoil?

Tested out some loads yesterday. Here's the data in case anyone is interested. All shot from a G19. Really fun to shoot. My favorite was the WST, I'll probably load some more of these in the future.
