Well, I'd like to give a little review of CCR Refinishing, since having some work done recently on my Mossberg 930 SPX and my Glock 23.Their website link is: http://www.ccrrefinishing.com/
To start off, I want to say I purchased my 930SPX new from a gunstore and it had some marks on the receiver and a mark on the barrel. It could have been from a customers handling because it was a rack gun or it might have came from the factory like that, I don't know.I knew I wanted it parkerized or refinished anyway,so it didn't bother me and the gunshop knocked off $50.00 dollars so I was satisfied.Previous to this I tried my hand at Aluma-hyde from brownells  to do my well worn G23 slide,a Police trade I purchased from a dealer at Glocktalk.I had a good experience before with brownells gunkote when I did an Rem 870 years ago when Wilson Combat poorly finished my shotgun with their Armor-tuff coating. This wasn't the case this time around with the Aluma-hyde.
So, I call up Mary at CCR and have a chat with her about my gruesome job on my Glock and if she can help me fix it.After a small chuckle from the horror story I told her with my spray can, she said no problem we can take care of whatever you put on there and we are running a special right now.Sounds good to me, packed it up and off she went.I must say, it is quite lovely speaking with Mary and her answering all your questions while calming all your concerns.
In any case, while the Glock was there I decided what the heck, I might as well send the 930 SPX and get her out of the way too, even though having both my beauties gone at the same time was gonna be torture, off she went to after another conversation with Mary answering my many, many questions.I wanted my guns back a.s.a.p. so I opted for their optional expedited service at an additional charge in which the gunsmith stays after hours, or works on a day off to work on rush service jobs.I also ordered some goodies on-line from Cactus Tactical and had them directly shipped to CCR, so they could be coated and installed by the gunsmith while the shotgun was there getting refinished.
On both my guns I opted for the Cera-Hide matte black finish. They also offer Cera-plate finishes as well.First, they totally disassemble every componant of the firearms down to the last little spring and screw.Everything gets media blasted and then all steel parts are parkerized. The aluminum parts are just media blasted and then everything, every screw, part etc. is coated and then thermally cured.
Now,they are very good with answering emails and the phone, but try not to be a pain in the butt like me too much, cause Mary sometimes is in the shop doing her thing too like parkerizing. So just be-aware that you may have to leave a voicemail, or give her a reasonable amount of time to respond to you.Don't blow up the phone every five minutes :whistling:
But anyway, like I said she is very attentive and service oriented and a pleasure to speak with about your projects.
Anyhow I'm gonna post some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Briefly, The pistol is a Glock 23 .40 sporting some mepro night sights. The Mossberg 930 SPX is sporting a Nordic plus two extension,Nordic clamp with pictanny rail,Vang comp stainless follower,Vang-comp oversized safety,GG & G single point rear sling attachment and GG & G single point sling, and finished off with a Tac-star sidesaddle.I can't recommend CCR Refinishing enough, a wonderful experience and great work!!!! Thank You CCR!!!

Now for the photo's,by the way I'm not great with pictures so let me tell you the pictures don't do them justice and any flaws are just me and the tuff cloth I use.The blacked out section on my glock is blocked out to cover serial number. Thanks again everyone, hope you like the review!!

nicely done! BTW, what sidesaddle is that installed in your 930SPX? Any issues with the action once installed?

Thank you!! Tac-Star sidesaddle, no issues but one must use due care particularly with aluminum receivers getting tweeked by too much tension on the sidesaddle screws.

I would very much like to get my M930SPX Parkerized or maybe duracoated. But I can't do the work itself and it seems to be real expensive.

A word of advice.Even if you look up the parkerize kit at brownells and see everything you need to do a park job,it's not economically sensible. That's not even getting into the fact of having to be quite knowledgable to fully disassemble and reassemble every tiny part and making sure the prep and process is done correctly. The parkerizing also shows welds like around sight bases, mag tubes etc a different color parkerizing than the other parts of the steel will come out, so for a nice even finish I would get it coated over a parkerize.
A nice parkerize with cera-hide coating job on a factory 930 SPX from CCR will run you around $160.00 or so, but alot of work and time goes into your shotgun, well worth it when you can afford to do the work.Better to save and wait then spend $$$ on do-it-yourself coatings and getting poor results imo

maniac I agree 100 % -- a wise man once told me AKA My Dad "a wise man knows his limitations" ... and I just can't do that and would waste the money on the supplies and probably ruin my firearm. But right not that $160 is prohibitive for me. $60 bucks, sure, no problem, but 160 is a big over thetop.

But your advice is sound advice and sage wisdom for all concerned

I have my M&P9 slide at CCR right now. As a matter of fact they just received it today. I was going to go with the House Black Cera-Hide, but now after seeing these pics I am going to call Mary and ask for the Matte Black instead. The House Black does look good. But just a tad too shiny for my taste.

BTW, thanks for posting such great pics. I was looking everywhere for good pics of the Matte Black finish that CCR offers but just couldn't find any. These pics have definitely shown me exactly what I was looking for. A big thumbs up on the SPX too! I have an SPX but got lucky with a flawless finish. However, I am going to send them my 17 year old Mossy 590 special purpose. Matte Black would look awesome on that oldie but goodie!

glockmaniac, nice pieces you got there. How does the Cera-Hide finish compare to a parkerized finish like aippi or someone like that does? I might want to have a few firearms refinished in a black matte/parkerized type finish. I might also be interested in a Cera-Hide stainless finish for my wifes shotgun.

Thanks, NYH!

Thank you everybody. Well, I'm not familiar with aippi's services or finishes, so I can't say how it compares.CCR magnese parkerizes the firearm, then coats and thermally cured.Basically, what you have is double the protection, the best of both Worlds. They also offer plating services. I'm very pleased with the results.

One thing I am interested in : can they do it in grey ? Rather lighter than darker ? I really like the shade of the M590A1 which I believe to be parkerized and grey , whereas I believe my M930SPX to be blued and black colored - I really like the battleship grey better IMHO. Is that possible from these guys , and you say $160 is that right sir ? Ty Ty.

Yes they can.

When I was on the phone with Mary at CCR she explained to me all the different variations of "tints" they can make to the House Black and Matte Black finishes. I opted for the standard Matte Black finish for my M&P slide and parts that's in their shop right now.

So I am quite sure if you call, ask for the Matte finish but tell Mary you would like to go lighter grey rather than the dark black. They are awesome people over there and you will not be disappointed.

Could you please post a picture of the bolt side of the Mossberg. Thanks
