View Full Version : OAL for .45 ?
What do you like for the oal? I use 1.250 and load to a minimum 6.0 grains of unique. sj
I should have stated,230 round nose,berrys plated
I loaded some at 5.7gr Unique at 1.240 and chrono'd them at 783. I've also loaded them at 6.0 but don't remember the OAL.

Lead, plated or jacketed, it matters. OAL is very bullet/gun specific.

At 6gr, you are just at 800fps, w/ a plated Berry's, about 825fps & lead, close to 840fps, all from 5" bbls, either a 1911 or XDTac. An OAL of 1.250" works for most shapes, most guns.
230gr LRN at ~5.3gr (5.2-5.4) ~1.150" Unique for me. Ran 'em from 4.8gr to 6.2gr. The 6.2 felt stout.

I use 1.260 for round nose plated or FMJ.
