First, yes every guy is different, best handgun is the one that works for you blah, blah.

I have the chance to trade a nice Beretta 92F for a holster-worn HK USP 9. I had always wanted Beretta, don't love the DA to SA thing though.

Always wanted an HK, opportunity has come up. I think the HK is worth more, it's not an LEM trigger though so I would have DA/SA issues still. Is HK DA trigger any better?

Should I do the trade or sell the Beretta and get something else? I can get $400 cash money for Beretta at least. That puts me in the ballpark for a S&W M&P stock .45ACP(with my buddies wholesale pricing), I am getting an MP Pro in the 9mm this week. Hmmmm. I like these kind of quandries.

HK guys give me your thoughts please. LEM trigger seems to be the bee's knees, but my buddies older usp 45 shot awfully nice... Then there is the M&P 45C which could make a sweet carry gun:whistling:

After 35+ years of owning and shooting many different brands of handguns, including a Beretta 92, I own mostly all H&K. IMO they are the gold standard.:wavey:

The pistol can easily be converted to LEM if you so desire.

It can also be converted to V9/10 (safety only, no decocker) which will effectively eliminate the DA trigger pull, making the gun perform as if it were a SAO (carried C&L like a 1911). The detent plate is easily installed and costs about $9.

Huh, how hard is that to do? The sao conversion?

I agree 100%. HK's are the only gun manu. that i have never heard of any bad models that had inherent problems. Gold Standard is a perfect description,

It is technically not a SAO conversion, as the pistol still retains the ability to operate DA.

What we are doing is swapping the detent plate. A V9 detent plate will eliminate decocking function of the lever and make it a safety only, effectively forcing you operate the pistol and carry it as if it were a SAO (cocked and locked like a 1911).

The conversion from V1 (DA/SA, safety and decocker, lever left side of frame for right handed shooter) to V9 (DA/SA, safety only, lever left side of frame for right handed shooter) is very easy and I could walk you through it. It would take less then 5 minutes and a punch to complete. Detent plates can be had for around $9 from HKparts.com or Numrich gun parts corp.

I converted my Custom Combat to V9 and I like it alot. It allows me to get a high grip on the gun and I can ride the control lever with the thumb of my firing hand without fear of accidentally decocking. :)

Make the trade, get the detent, and carry it cocked & locked like a real man.

If you're near Cleveland Ohio, I can swap out the detent plate for you. If you have a punch, it's very simple. There might be youtube videos on it, if not, I can make one for you.

Try someone's LEM out before you make the conversion, it's hit or miss. My brother loves it, I'm ok with it but prefer my da/sa.

The P7M8 & M13 are the gold standard of all steel, IMO!!:whistling:

Most accurate and extremely reliable. I've shot a P7M8 at 100 yds with amazing success. Most accurate gun i've ever shot.

I always carried my USP9 V1 C&L anyway. I'm not quite getting the point of changing the detent plate out.
I wish I hadn't had to sell my USP, but it will get replaced by a P30S one day. At least I still have my PSP...

Sell Beretta use funds for payment toward something you might really like.
However, do not be penny wise and pound foolish.

I have an HK USP and like it immensely. I also have a very nice Inox 92FS.
neither gun is permanent meaning no trading or selling.

The 92 FS is my favorite nine mm. My least favorite is the Browning HP.
The trigger is bad indeed. I would trade it in a heart beat for something else of equal value.

changing the detent plate eliminates the chance of inadvertently decocking under stress instead of taking the pistol off safe.
