View Full Version : Oregon Trail Laser Cast 200 swc in G-30
One of my pet loads is 200 gr Laser Cast SWC over 5.2 grs W231 and CCI 300 primer.
I am looking to get a Glock 30sf soon, is the Laser Cast hard enough to shoot through the factory Barrel, or will it lead to leading pressure spikes?
I've never had good luck with an SWC in my G30 - too many FTFs. Also, I've gotten lots of leading with the stock barrel, even when shooting heat-treated linotype bullets. Often in as little as 50 rounds. I finally broke down and got an aftermarket barrel. I can go 500 or more rounds before I start to see leading in my Lone Wolf barrel.
Getting most SWC's to feed through a G30 is a tricky endeavor at best. There are some style SWC's that will feed better than others but I haven't seen any that would earn the reputation of being reliable.
My G-30 did not work with SWC's.
Lead works fine if you don't drive it too hard with a fast powder. Use Unique or similar for full power loads and if you want to use Bullseye or another fast powder, keep it in the low power range.
SWC's with any kind of squared shoulder, like the traditional 45 cal HG SWC, don't work in Glocks for spit in my experience. Try RN or TC for better reliability.
