I'm set for the Austrian invasion. Heck, you can't wreck this state more than Ahnuld already did.

Both good calls. I also like Fat Tire.

I know I'm biased, but I usually gravitate towards WI beers if I can unless I'm trying something new just to try it. Lienie's Red is always one of my favorites.

If you ever venture to WI, there's a brewery called New Glarus (from New Glarus, WI). Their staple is "Spotted Cow", but they've got a lot of really good stuff. It's only distributed here in WI, though. I know there's a lot of good micro breweries around the country, but I like to support the locals.

ETA: My out of state friends and relatives always tell me to bring a case of Spotted Cow when I go visit.

Good morning! 50s, rainy and foggy today. Survived the bachelor party last night, but my body aches from the drinking and sleeping on a hotel floor. It was pretty cool being 14 stories up and the view was of the Hancock Building. My buddy's work paid for the room, which made it even better.

Off to my nephew's 1 year old birthday party this afternoon.

Add a little salt; pepper; red pepper flakes; sage to the ground beef, let sit for a day or two in the fridge to blend flavours well. Take the ground beef, that is now a fresh sausage and form into patties. Add cheddar cheese, (not the wimpy processed stuff), or emmentaler to the the patty after it is turned over on the griddle, and sauté one egg and cook till medium or hard. Place all on a good roll, add favourite toppings. And, a side of chips sounds good to go with it too. Supreme fry up mein freunds.

I remember the first time my dad took me out driving. It was around the block, and I wasn't allowed to touch the gas. I literally went 3mph around the block (about a half mile). Half way through, he said it was OK to give it some gas, but I had to keep it under 10mph.

Our dorms are still up but our cafeteria has been converted into a force on force building. Our old classrooms are still there, but we have new dorms, classrooms and cafeteria built last year at the community college. Corrections got the same deal. The cafeteria is shared, but not dorms and classrooms.

Complaints about the new dorms- the shower heads are short, lowflow models but I think they might be replacing them. There are no curtains or blinds on the dorm windows. Some dorm rooms are on the first floor and even the upper floors can be seen due to topography around the facility. The windows are tinted so daytime privacy might be ok, but as one guy found out (LET ME BE CLEAR, IT WAS NOT ME), at night, with your lights on, people can see you shaking hands with yourself. :faint:

Our showers were either ice cold or scalding hot, I never could decide which was more miserable. Made you hurry up and move on though!

I'm pretty sure my class stopped up the plumping and flooded the downstairs of our barracks during our first week. We didn't get the blame for it, but I know some of us (not me) were flushing papertowels right before inspection to keep from messing up the trash cans.

Oh I went so SF, to fishermans wharf, I loved it there, had wonderful seafood. Ate a lot of meat, seafood and today I went to In and Out Burger... its w o n d e r f u l.

My rental car is a w e s o m e because its a red camaro convertible and its brand new. I love it and I WANT TO KEEP IT!.

I took a lot pictures and videos but I am online with an apple notebook and I have no idea how to to ctrl c and ctrl v the urls of the photos I uploaded on facebook. Its not my notebook.. and now I know I would never buy an apple one lol.

Have to say I really love it here. Its wonderful. Very nice area and everybody is so friendly. Even at a restaurant like In and Out Burger everybody working there asks if you like it.. in Austria there are a lot of restaurants where it seems like no one cares even when you have to pay three times more..

I think I have to apply for a green card

Now that you like it there, you will have to plan holiday to travel various parts of the USA, as it is widely varied and wonderful in a lot of places. Of course, like any country there are the not so good spots. Those you would want to stay out of.

Glad that you are enjoying yourself. California is a pleasant state, but I would not want to live there. I favour more the deep south, parts of Texas, since I have lived there. Parts of the north away from a lot of the cities are OK, but I do not care for the winter weather there.

That burger must have cocaine in it or something... it's so addictive! But then again, I got some burger joints that I am going to take him to down here that will open his eyes some more, including the Counter (Google The Counter Burger) where you can custom build your 1 pound burger with literally so many things that you have thousands of possible combinations.

Then there are the local charbroiled joints that serve their own style of burgers, including Fat Burger with the fried egg double king burger. I prefer charbroiled over grilled.

Then we got the various BBQ joints, Texas or Carolina style, and various Asian and Fusion styles. I think he is going to gain a lot of weight for sure.

I wonder which would be best at that? But, my wife is like: "Not until the other one dies off, we can't give it to anyone, and it would not get along with any other dogs." Which is probably true. We don't have sergeants where I work. Lt, captain, AW, (associate warden), and warden are the supervisory ranks above me. Well, there are places that are better than others. On a scale where 100 is the national average, we are at 273. NC in general is 115 (of note, we are higher than Durham -- Durham is at 257). Almost every time we stop by a P&C or a Tops or something whilst being up in that part of the country, I get their cheese. Good stuff.

no posts for more than 24h?

I was out and about yesterday with family, and then when I got up I was too sleepy to post. Sometimes doxylamine succinate is over powerful, but I slept nearly all the way through my day and evening nap.

I had to get another continuous glucose monitoring device hooked up to myself yesterday. The one that was on me showed as no data being stored, oddly enough. So, we'll next week what this one does. Hopefully it works OK. If it does I may see about getting an insulin pump, if I can convince my medical team that it is a good thing, or maybe a glucose monitoring device to hook up to myself so I can keep better account of my blood sugar levels.

Oh yeah.

I am debating on getting something that would be good for full timing in a couple of years or so. Mainly for us to get used to it, and live in it. We really don't have that many possessions other than our books and other reading material. Of course getting rid of clothing we no longer use and such like would have to be done. Going from the large desk top computers to lap top is something we are already planning on doing. We would have to do something with our appliances that could not come along. This way I could if need be retire out of here and be ready to go, or retire elsewhere, and pay for a lateral transfer, already having living quarters. I am actually thinking of a truck and roomiest travel trailer that I can find, with it being equipped for all seasons of weather. That way my daughter would have her own sleeping quarters. Other than that, I would have to look up decent full timing places to stay, even a decent mobile home park, as long as it is not a "projects" type of quality to it.

My grandparents did that. When he retired, they sold their house, bought an RV and traveled around for several years. Once they got tired of it, they traded the RV for a very nice double wide in a retirement community down here and lived there for the rest of their lives. It worked out very, very well for them.

Not in CA unfortunately. POST regulations require that the officer is already in the process to get his citizenship and must have the citizenship within 1 year of appointment or else you cannot keep your job. Other states may vary but doubtful. Someone asked this awhile back and I don't recall any states that do.

Since you are young enough, and most likely intelligent enough, I would suggest military recruitment. You can get in on a green card, and they will now a days IIRC speed up things concerning getting your citizenship. After serving active duty military that would also be a boon in a lot of agencies concerning getting on with full time LE. Interestingly enough, the military via the US Army would probably be the easiest route for that.

Come to think of it, you may not even need a green card for it initially.
