All four of these were given to me and my wife by my mother-in-law. They belonged to my wife's father who passed away ~17 years ago. They have not been touched since he passed away. He was a policeman. They appear to have been fired very little, and they're in pretty good shape, especially the Colts. They have some smudges, but it's because I haven't even wiped them down yet.

Any tips for cleaning and taking care of these? I've never owned a revolver and honestly don't know too much about them.

Anyone have any guess what they're worth? I don't want to sell them - I'm just curious what we have.

#1 - Colt Python. Serial number dates it to 1975.

#2 - Colt Trooper MK III
I'm having no luck dating this one. Serial # J39##0. I tried looking it up at proofhouse.com, but didn't really have any luck. Maybe I'm reading their site wrong.

S&W Model 66, 4"
I don't know as much about this gun. I can't locate an online serial # lookup and I don't have a book. The box still had the original receipt showing it was purchased in Nov 1978. So, I'm guessing it's right in that range. The serial # is 41K46##.

S&W Model 66, 2"
I don't know much about this one either. It was in the original box, but didn't have a receipt. It appears to be almost identical to the 4" model - they may have been purchased around the same time.

Python is more then likely worth a lot. But all of them I would hold on to. They all look extremely nice. Congratulations on some nice Heirlooms

1: $1500-1800 Pythons are super hyped right now and that demand could fall over time or go up. Who knows.

2: $800

3: $450

4: $400

I wouldn't touch the Python in order to keep it pristine. The Smiths are not so valuable and common.

That 66 2" is a PINNED barrel, so the cylinder will also be recessed. With box and papers $600 range.
