So I picked up my RIA 1911 Tactical and I gotta say I am stunned. The quality is just way beyond what I expected. There are no sharp edges or unfinished surfaces. Overall the the finish it self looks excellent much better then I expected to tell ya the truth. I would say its on Par with the Smith and Wesson 1911 E-Series I shot at the range for far less. Maybe its not fair to say that since the range gun was just that but still quality is extremely high on the RIA. Even the grips are not that bad there getting replaced to something more my taste but still.

I did take it to the range and unfortunately didn't get to shoot it as much as I planed. I only shot about 50 rounds thought it. Around 10 rounds of 124gr FMJ and 10 rounds of 147gr JHP. Both feed great and gave me zero hiccups. I was really impressed. Since I know its common to have a break in period on the guns.

Only thing I found to be a bit of a pain was taking off all the packing grease it had on it. Took me close to a hour but once done gave it a good coat of CLP. Not sloppy wet just a nice thin coat.

Overall I kick my self for ever buying a Glock... Will definitely be adding more 1911's in the future... I think the kool aid was delicious.

Cool man as this will be my next 1911. Work is slow in my business now. Construction. Money is tight but I've heard nothing but good about that gun. Two of my freinds with lots more money than me got them and love'm. Congrats.

Nice pickup. Heard nothing but good things about them and I am a big fan of 1911s in 9mm.

More I think about it the happier I am I got the 9mm. Its way cheaper to shoot which is what I got the gun for a range gun.

Thanks guys and yea the build quality is so high on it I think when I go to get my GI model it will be a RIA also just in 45. I do want atleast one untouched completely stock GI 1911

His collection in one photo is not possible. Last time I saw the most recent group pics...I believe it was 1911s, revolvers, semi-autos. I think...

I agree nothing wrong with the 9mm cartridge and there is very little felt recoil.

Congrats on the new pistol.

I really enjoy shooting my 9mm 1911s, in fact I was out back earlier with the Kimber Target II, wringing out some new Metal Form 10 round mags. Both ran great!

How much did it cost you? And does it have night sights?

HotRoderX
05-17-2011, 18:49
I payed 480 OTD and no nightsights. I am sure thought you could have nightsights added just like any gun.

I've been wanting a 9mm 1911 for a while, and this looks really pretty. Congrats! I take it that any Novak type sights would work?

99% sure the backs are standard Novaks I was told by one person the front sight isn't a standard cut, but can be switched out by a gunsmith. You could just post that question on here I am sure one of the guys could give you a more definite answer.

Personally thought I love the sights on it.

Those are his gun rooms. They're all housed according to their style and level. The top tiers goes in the penthouse.

My bad I should have noticed that as the bottom "house" is larger for living quarters.

Thanks I gotta say I gotten to take it to the range twice and I am impressed I shot extremely tight groups with it free hand. I shoot it better then anything else I own even my revolvers.

I have a few Rock Island's and have been very impressed with their accuracy. Especially at their price range. I bet that 9mm is a real sweet shooter.

It really is almost no felt recoil at all. Very mild follow up shots take nothing. The best part is I tryed a mag of hollow points and had zero issues they fed fine and chambered fine. I was really excited and happy about that.

All 3 of my Rock's have been not only accurate but reliable too. Greatest 1911 bang for your buck out there IMO.

First 1911 I ever shot was a Smith and Wesson E-series at the range. After shooting that I knew I wanted a 1911 it was just waiting tell funds where available. I gotta say between the two other then one being 45 and one being 9mm I cant tell a difference quality wise. In fact I am so impressed I will more then likely make a RIA 1911 GI I want something close to a reproduction. I had planned to get either a Colt, Remington or Springfield. After shooting the RIA I think a GI from them would be just as quality. I can use the money I save to help buy a semi-custom or full custom 1911.

What 3 models do you have?

He lives in the Orange one. . . . All the rest are for just storing his gun collection.
