I just got 10 of these. They are in great shape, could just use a little cleaning. 10 mags for $110 shipped to my door:wow:

That's a decent price. Be sure you inspect them VERY well.
Be sure and try them at the range before counting on them in a HD situation.

IMO if you're buying it for collecting it's a decent value, but you can get brand new mags that will work for the same price or less.
I will admit that I got into collecting AR mags myself although I don't think they have much if any collector value. If I see one I don't have and it doesn't look like junk I usually buy at least 2, so I have way more than I can ever use.

I just remembered that out of half a dozen new Colt mags I have had, there was one that was defective and would barely even fit in the magwell.

Seems a bit over priced to me, but if your happy.
New "GI" mags are under $9 all the time.

DSG base plate, but D&H mags w/ magpul followers $85/10 http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/MA-02DSGG10.aspx

Bravo has D&H for $800/100 or $85/10 http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR-15-Magazines-p/magazines%20dh%20bt30mf%20100%20pack.htm

Brownells has their tan twenty rd mags for $7.99 http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=21225/Product/AR_15_M16_20____30_ROUND_MAGAZINES

Never used Brownell's mags but people seem to like them.

Those are off the top of my head, but I'm sure there more.

On a semi-related side-note:

Is it true that 30-rd. mags, even the high quality ones, tend to feed less reliably than the 20-rd. versions?

I was just saying that I thought it was a good deal on COLT factory mags. These are real Colt's, not mil. spec. made for the military by someone else. I may be picky, but I wanted real Colt mags for my Colt AR. Just like I like real Glock mags for my Glock. The only gun I have that I don't worry about factory mags is my AK, but as long as they are commies and not plastic I'm ok with that. And maybe a Wilson combat for my 1911. Most of the time you buy cheep mags you get what you pay for. These are very nice, just took them apart and cleaned them. It is hard to tell they were evan used, except for a few wear marks and some carbon. Manufacture dates 2008 and 2010.

It is hard to see in my pic but it is marked Colt mfg.

For the record, my USGI mags work great though.

Have you tried PMAG's? I like them better than USGI or Colt mags.

PMags are great! However, I prefer straight 20 round USGI mags over all others.

I thought Colt mags are/were made by Okay(NHMTG) and they just slap on a COLT floorplate?

You might be right. I know a company called "shooting star" or something like that used to make some of the Colt 1911 mags back in the 90's.

Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags; maybe.

Either way, my point is there are only a very few actual mag manufactures and they just slap a roll marked floorplate for whatever Co. they have been contracted by. Nothing wrong w/ Okay/NHMTG. They make good quality .mil mags and had/have a DoD contract. All mine work just fine. Bushmaster/DPMS/DSG/Bravo etc use D&H mags.

So, by being picky and wanting real Colt mags, not some mil spec mag made by someone else, you got real Okay mags w/ Colt floorplates manufactured by a DoD contractor made to .mil specifications.:wavey: (Just having some fun w/ you)

Welcome to the dark side BTW. Your Colt will serve you well. I started w/ just one AR. Then I became afflicted w/ BRD and all he11 broke loose.

or Universal Industries (UI)

Colt mags are just a floor plate on a USGI mag

Some places like SA list two types of colt mags. Like Colt USGI mill spec. Then they'll list Colt factory mags manufactured in house by colt manufacturing/defense. ?????

SA?? Stag Arms?:dunno: I didn't see anything marked colt.

Springfield Armory is what I thing of when I see SA, but they don't sell ARs unless I missed something.

ETA: Forget it....Surplus Ammo and Arms

Genuine Colt AR15 Hi-Capacity Magazine.

New factory Colt Mfg.

Specialized Armament

Should have thought of them since we are talking about Colt.

I don't know why the name change, but I looked at a couple and they are a bit different. One has a Green follower, another had and "enhanced follower" and a third had a long life red spring.

Found a good link about the different USGI mags made throughout the years, and who made them.

Good read

Just got in some 20 and 30 rd colt factory mags from SA. They are roll marked on the metal on one side of mag - Colt's MFG Hartford Conn. plus the manufacturing date, month and year and part #'s. The foor plates are also stamped Colt mfg. They came in sealed milspec type marked bags. I do think these were manufactured by colt and at the colt mfg factory.

BTW: CDNN is having a special on FN AR15 mags right now.

Hey, I didn't want to start a new thread, in case one already exists (I did search for one, unsuccessfully), but has anyone had a look at the new Troy BattleMags (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MTSMAGSIN00BT00&name=Troy+Ind.+CBIR+.223%2f5.56+30rd+AR+BattleMags&groupid=14)? I just saw them on the AIM Surplus website for the first time today, and thought they looked promising, especially for only $13.95. Did these just come out, or am I just late to the party?
