Hi Mas,

I have been thinking of switching to 165gr or 180gr for my G27. I was wondering if you could give me an idea of the street record for the Ranger T or HST in those weights. I know you prefer the 165gr, are the 180gr performing poorly on the street? Some people say that you have less velocity loss with a heavier bullet from a short barrel, do you think I should consider the 180gr for a 3.5" barrel or go with the 165gr? Do you prefer the Ranger T in 165gr?
As always, thank you for your highly valued advice,
Gus

It's not that the 180 grain performs poorly on the street; it's that the 165-grain Ranger at full velocity performs SUPERBLY on the street.

Neither is a bad choice, but my own preference is still for the full-velocity 165 grain in a .40 S&W caliber pistol, regardless of barrel length.

best,
Mas
