So what is done to your carry weapon?
Cleaned it,lubed it,shot several hundred rounds of practice ammo and a couple hundred rounds of carry ammo.I can't think of anythin g else I need to do to it.BTW, it's a Sig 239.

Laser sight.

Otherwise, absolutely stock.

I pray to God that I never have to use my weapon, but if I do, I sure don't want to give some prosecutor "ammunition" to bring my mods into question.

G23 with LWD 3.5lb connector, LWD stainless guide rod/spring set, ~1k rounds through it including a few hundred of my defense ammo and some modest training. I know the county prosecuter here who's done the same things to his carry gun, and it helps to be in a free state where if you do shoot someone lawfully, such modifications are not brought to bear against you.

Of course if I still lived in California, I'd just hide in my closet peeing myself ready to throw a shoe at a badguy in my home because it's better to be carried by 6 than judged by 12 there! :P

Mine is a G19. I only do two things to my work 19's. Dawson sights (black in the back and red fiber optic up front). IThe other thing I do is sand out a little relief under the trigger guard so my middle finger has a bit more space. Other than that, I leave it alone.

G32 w/ XS standard dots.
Grip plug.
Smooth trigger bar.
Polished connector/trigger bar/FP safty.

Soon it'll have the Ghost Ranger 4.5 connector, and the sights changed back to plain jane notch and post from AmeriGlo. Because although the XS work great for what they do (fast COM hits), I want something I won't be uneasy about with cleanly dropping coyotes out a good distance. And all my other handguns are notch and post.

Put 1000 trouble free rounds through it (at least 100 rounds of this is carry ammo).

My G29 carry is set up with the following:

1) Robar grip reduction for my small fingers and rough grip texture.
2) Extended slide release for my small fingers (see a pattern)
3) Tru-Glo TFO sights
4) Dehorn everything.
5) NP3 slide and all internals

My 1911 carries are set up pretty much like this:

1) 20 lpi checkering or serrations on front strap paired with thin grips and short triggers
2) Good sights, with plain black front posts or posts with gold beads
3) Dehorn everything
4) One of the wear-resistant finishes (hard chrome, E-Treat, IonBond, NP3)

I carry several guns, Glocks, HK, SIG and even an XD. The smallest caliber so to speak is a 357 SIG(XD and SIG P-239), the largest powerwise, 10mm, with 45 acp and 40 S&W. All have night sights, and with the exception of Hogue grips on the 239, they are all bone stock. I do put factory flat magazine bottoms on the mags for the HKs. I reload and shoot my carry guns quite a bit, and though I do well with most any gun I pick up, I usually shoot best with my carry pieces, with the exception of my HK USP 45 Tac, and my big Smith revolvers(44 & 460), that big HK really shoots, and it gets shot the most, along with a SIG 220 and a MK II Ruger . I shoot my revolvers quite a bit too, I am a bullet caster and unfortunately have gone to carrying guns with polygnal bores, and it kills me to buy plated bullets. I have been thinking of the LEM trigger for the HKs, as well as an ambi safety for them, but that is about as far I would modify them, my 239 is a DAO (not DAK, hate those) and I like it a lot, I grew up shooting D/A revolvers double action....

Glock 17, Gen 2.

ESR, EMR, titanium firing pin, 3.5# trigger, Trijicon night sights, Hogue slip-on grip. Added a couple of 17rd mags with 2rd extensions to go with the 10 rounders. All work was completed by Glockmeister. Zero malfunctions since 1995.

Now thinking of a tungsten recoil guide rod with stock weight spring to help even out the weight with the 19rd mags along with a polymer magwell.

Not always. My G30 would sometimes not ignite Win white box. Some would say as long as it ignites carry ammo, it's a non issue. Not me, has to eat everything within reason. I could actually see where the striker was skipping off the firing pin stop. So, a - trigger bar for a G21 (don't like the grooves) and a Wolf Extra power striker spring. Not a single issue with any ammo since the "upgrade".

Otherwise, I likely wouldn't mod a carry gun other than sights or disabling an internal lock.

G23 - Clean, lube, shoot. All stock. It works well, no need to change stuff.

G27 - Clean, lube, shoot. All stock. One exception - GAP mag floorplates.

I've never found a reason to do all the assorted mods that I read about here on the GT forum.

S&W 642 - Clean, lube, shoot. It has a lock, which I have never used, and it doesn't worry me in the least. It hasn't caused any problems. I ignore it. From most reports I've found, the lock issue was on the original versions of the very light weight scandium an titanium models, per what I've read here:

A trigger done right will not have light strike issues. Whatever you have, train and train often. That pucker factor will effect you less the harder you train. If my finger goes inside that trigger guard and makes contact with the trigger, its because I want it too and nothing to do with the pucker factor.

why is your finger on the trigger if you do not fully intend to fire?

that there is poor training technique.

finger along the frame until you decide to fire, once the decision is made, let nothing hold you back.

1lb trigger or 20lb, the only difference it makes is in accuracy, not accidents.

accidents happen between the ears.

My concealed carry gun is a G23 and this is what is done to her.
Polished trigger & LW 3.5lb polished connector.
ESR, grip plug, Trijicon night sights
Smooth trigger installed

So what is done to your carry weapon?

Every 2 or 3 years, or after I shoot it, I clean it. If I needed modifications to use it, I'd just carry pepper spray and a rape whistle.

Trijicon night sights

Glock extended slide stop lever (because it makes a huge difference for a lefty using my index finger to release the slide)

Glock 4.5lb connector

Pearce +2 mag extension on one, Pearce +0 mag extension on another, and the last is stock

The next thing I am getting for my G17 are trijicon sights.

Holy thread resurrection!

These days I've been carrying a Stainless Springfield TRP. I ditched the ambi safety and fit a WC bulletproof Strong side safety, ditched the ILS MSH and Magwell for an S&A, and added some VZ Operator II grips.

extended take down lever
glock extended slide release
vickers tactical mag release
filed down the trigger safety so its flush with trigger when engaged

Install night sights if they don't have them, shoot IDPA or USPSA matches with them, clean them up, load them up, put them in the holster.

XD-45 Compact: Trijicon night sights.

LCR .357: Painted the front sight white.

LCR .38: Green fiber-optic front sight.

Carried my G26 today. Felt good. Losing weight makes it so much easier to carry. And winter makes it easier to carry a 2x4 instead of the LCP.

G26 Gen4

-Stock Controls (slide release, mag release)
-Stock barrel
-Stock trigger w/ 25 trigger job
-Carried with stock mag for concealability along with Pearce +2 grip extender as reload. Nifty little flashlight holding mag floorplate adapter for bedside duty.
-GF night sights (mepros)
-Glockmeister grip plug (keeps lint outta there, also its sloped towards the magwell for easier reloads)
-"Punisher" slide plate cover (probably prosecutor ammo, but honestly it reminds me never to point at anything that I wouldn't want to destroy. Plus, I'm a nerd.)
-Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P 9mm
-All carried in a Crossbreed Supertuck in black cowhide qith the "combat cut" for faster draw and less leather stuffed into my pants.

I am afraid to customize my carry piece. I was under the impression that one should keep them standard, though I might be naive. I am thinking about swapping in some tritiums.

With respect to things like trigger jobs or hand loaded carry ammo, you are correct but modifications which improve the accuracy, like tungsten guide rods and night sights can be easily explained...they help insure that the rounds you fired at your attacker actually go into your attacker and not that "school bus full of kids".

Remember, there is a lawyer attached to every round that comes out of your gun.

I hope I dont offend, but this is a ridiculous mindset. Why would we refrain from a reasonable improvement to help us deploy our weapons more accurately in the event we desperately need to be accurate with them? Anyway...

G26 with Ameriglo pro operators, 3.5 lb connector, GAP floorplates and extended slide stop. Carried AIWB in a Galco USA holster, always.

I guess that we have to anticipate the strategies of LAWYERS.

my CCW is a Kahr PM40 that is carried in a talon IWB. I have not done anything to this gun asides from trimming up a hogue grip for it because I am partial to the palm swell it gives. I have been looking at adding night sites but that's all I really feel is necessary. Asides from a few hundred rounds of range ammo I have put a few other PPA ammo through it and it seems to be partial to the hornady critical duty so 5+1 shots of that along with a backup mag suites me just fine.

Why? Lawyers can spew BS all they want but as long as the mods are done with the intent to make the gun more reliable, or accurate to shoot with that changes nothing about the defense and could actually be highlighted as a positive.

Now, a punisher grip or something I get but night sights or an improved trigger are not anything to worry about.
