I finally got my hands on some Glock-made .40 22-round magazines. CDNN recently listed them on their website again, so I assumed they must be in stock again. I ordered two of them on May 18, they shipped the next day and I received them via Fedex on May 21.

I had long wondered what springs they used since they were shorter than 9mm 31/33-round magazines and none of the parts vendors list a specific spring for the .40 version. I opened one of the magazines up and discovered that they use the same 17-coil springs that the 9mm 31/33-round magazines use.

It was pretty difficult to get all 22 rounds into one, the other I could only get 21 rounds into. I haven't tried them at the range yet but they both hand cycle smoothly just as factory magazines should.

I had previously ordered some aftermarket KCI 31-round .40 magazines because I thought I'd never get my hands on Glock ones. I ordered a couple of Glock-made 31/33-round magazine springs to put in them, as well as some #9 followers. The original springs in those magazines are the same 17-coil springs used in the 9mm version. The followers were copies of Glock #8 followers. I tried a #9 follower in one but it didn't work very well, it would hesitate to rise fully at the top of the empty magazine. One of these aftermarket magazines has a Glock spring, the other has the original spring. Both hand cycle well until about the 24th round left in the magazine, then both magazines raise the stack of rounds very slowly and even to the point of the stack of rounds locking up and not rising all the way. Now I understand a possible reason for this, Glock used the same spring in a much shorter .40 magazine tube so maybe these aftermarket magazines need like 20-coil springs, which I don't even think are manufactured.

hey man i just want to know how are these magazines shipped? Do they come with the glock packaging or just a brown paper mag. Also does it say Glock on the maggazine? Im thinking of buying a few but just want to know if they are O.E.M.

Yes they're Glock brand magazines, they say Glock on the rear of the magazine tube and on the floorplate. Each of them came in a zip-loc type bag with an insert card that says Glock factory magazine.(like this picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/mr_black_006/Glock19Mags.jpg)

This picture is exactly what mine look like: http://glockparts.com/ItemMedia/10010/10010_20118.jpg

And here 's a video showing the magazines, identical to the ones I received in every way:

The link in my above post is the exact item I ordered, GLOMF22222. They're absolutely OEM magazines. And now I see they've dropped the price $5 each since I ordered them. Oh well, at least I got some.

The shipping method they used was Fedex. They sent a relatively large cardboard box that could've fit like 20 magazines, of course it only had the 2 I ordered in it along with a bunch of packing peanuts and an invoice.

I have a total of 6. I carry them as my spare mags in my galco shoulder rig when I carry my 22 or 35. Takes awhile and a strong thumb to get full 22 round load in them. They are reliable even when left loaded for an extended period. Also no ftfs with them.

Here are some considerations for reliable extended capacity .40 mags:

1. Standard 15 round mag with Glock + extension for 17 round capacity.
2. Standard 15 round mag with Arredondo 5 round extension kit for 20 round capacity. This set up is too expensive!!! ($38.50 for the Arredondo kit + $22.00 for the Glock mag= $60.50 plus s&h!!!)
3. Glock 22 round mag.
4. Glock 22 round mag with Glock + extension for 24 round capacity.

I tested my Glock .40 22-round magazines at the range last Saturday with my G27.

50 rounds through each magazine fired in this fashion:
21 rounds 180gr American Eagle
21 rounds 165gr American Eagle
8 rounds, 4 were 180gr and 4 were 165gr.

They worked flawlessly. I like to load my magazines 1 round under capacity, it's an obsessive compulsive thing of mine.
