Hello Evreyone...:wavey:

I am seriously thinking about Duracoating my Stag Model 1 in a flat dark earth/desert tan color.

How difficult is it to do?

Do I need to disasemble the gun completely?

Do I need to use a primer?

Any parts or areas that I need to avoid getting the paint on ie: the gas tube?
I know not to get it in the bore and breech or the on BCG.

Any and all advice welcome as well as pics of your Duracoated guns.

Thanks in advance to all who reply...

Duracoating is fairly easy if you have an airbrush. I got mine at Harbor frieght tools fairly cheap. Practice on a piece of cardboard before spraying the gun and follow the instructions and it's pretty easy. The duracoat gets harder the longer it sits. I usually do 2-3 coats. Ive read that spaying over a parkerized gun is the best.

It's nice to get a little extra, but it doesn't have a great shelf life so don't get too much. I bought 3 extra bottles and 6-8 months later they were shot...

It would be best if you could aluminum oxide blast the pieces/parts first.
No primer needed, you do not have to completely disassemble, would be best though.
You MUST degrease VERY well!

There are many videos on YouTube,.....take a look. Could answer some questions
