Thats what I was wondering. Their GI is under 500 so this MAY be a fairly good buy. Don't care for the FCS but the gun looks nice.

The Regent is made in Turkey, Turkey is a muslim country.
No way in hell will I knowingly support a muslim country.

I have a couple Turkish guns, including the R100 and guns from all over the world, to be honest.

I hear what you're saying, but I feel Regent makes a solid 1911. I will probably pick up the new one at some point to.

On some sort of philosophical basis? Your avatar has a pic of a Sig. The Germans killed a hell of a lot more people than Muslims have. You buy what you want, but giving others grief about something like that is just dumb.

Don't know if all of them want us dead or not. But did you ever notice how China and Russia allways support them. If you won't buy this gun then I suggest that you not ever buy any cheap article of clothing from Wal-mart, Kolhs, K-mart, or any other place in America. The whole world is against us just look at the U.N. vote on almost any issue. Buy what you want no matter where it was made as Americans are still the people importing things and selling it so it still provides jobs. I am not for the importation of our jobs overseas by any mean, just a redneck American trying to enjoy life and take care of my family. Believe me when I say if I voiced my true feelings this thread would be shut down.:whistling:

If it weren't for the Moros (Phillipine Muslims) and their apparent ability to brush off multiple .38 caliber rounds, we may not even know of the 1911.

History lesson aside, I'm not a proponent of Islam in any way. But part of what makes America great is that we have the right to choose whatever damn product we want, and we have the right to voice our opinion and argue about it all we want. God bless America.

Are you serious? True ignorance is making generalizations about entire demographics, races, or religions. If you want to be a biggot, that's your perogative. You clearly show your true colors with blanket statements such as that.

Good idea - don't buy Turkish stuff. Impoverish them so their people turn against us, after Turkey has given us all sorts of strategic support over the years.

Don't buy any Islamic oil, either. Walk to work instead.

Don't buy any Chinese products, either, since they're our competitors. Walk to work barefoot and naked, unless you're certain that your shoes and clothes come from somewhere on your approved list.

Yeah go right ahead with that.. yer going to be the one missing out on a decent pistol because of your ignorance.. Turkey is probably one of the most lenient Islamic countries out there.. They allow prostitution, alcohol, and other "lax" behavior that would get one killed or imprisoned in a truly "devout" country. But hey what do I know. I only served a tour there.. When I move to Oregon a Regent will deffnly be in my stable.. there is no way a in hell that a pistol can be "Islamic" just because of its country of origin.. Your line of thinking condemns the AK because it is "Communist" a gun is a gun regardless of where it is manufactured... But hey, if it is yer flavor of Kool-aid.. suck it up buttercup..

Fedor, like Bac1023, I own numerous 1911s (71 of them right now). They range anywhere from around $400 up to close to $2000. I do not waste my hard-earned money on something that is not worth the money. Peter Kokalis, who reviews and writes for Shotgun News, did an article on the Regent about a year after it was out. It received a very nice review from Kokalis. For what you pay for the Regent, you would expect a low quality firearm. This not the case. It is extremely well built and performs very well. The fit, finish, and function is par with a 1911 that cost several hundreds more. Those of us that have owned one for a while can attest to this. All we can do is recommend the pistol. If you choose to spend you money on something else, that is your option. Like Bac said, the Regent is a nice option. It may not be for everyone, but it is a very nice pistol and I am glad to have one in my collection.

Seems to from what most of ya'll (southern talk Paul in case you forgot) :tongueout: that it is a well built firearm in it's class. I hope the 200 is the same with a good pricetag. Might have to get one.

How many rounds do you have through yours so far? I have about 1,000-1,500 less rounds through my R100 than most of my other 1911s and it rattles like a box of parts. Its reliable and the barrel/bushing is still tight but the slide to frame fits is as loose as they come.

i handled a regent at a gun show last year, looked pretty damn nice to me. i wouldn't mind having one to be honest. i like the look of the new one minus the FCS,not a fan of those at all. i'd probably pick up the ruger 1911 before the r200

Yea that's true but mine got loose pretty fast where every single other 1911 I own would still be solid or have just a tad bit of play.

Bac, I'm not trying to dis the gun so Its a legitimate question on round count and slide to frame fit. I would take your word on the matter far more seriously since your diversity of 1911s would allow you an honest opinion. I'm saying this since I think you might feel I'm just here to knock the Regent.

I like the R100 for a knock around 1911 since you can see I've modified mine quite a bit but the fact that the slide rattles so much in such a short amount of time might prevent me from buying another. I'll say one thing though, the C&S hammer/disconnector/sear set I put in there made a load of difference.
