1911s are my preferred gun for launching 45s.

IMO, they're worth the trouble.

I say DO IT!

I'm not really sure what trouble you're referring to, but they are worth it. :)

If you are willing to wait, you will be able to get one for under $600, I did.

Saw one at a gun show this Saturday. Looked real nice in person. I want to say that the price tag said $649, but I can't be 100% sure.

1911's are so,...so, 1911ish. If I had to choose one, and I have both, multiples, and had to choose only one, I'd take the 21, hands down!:wavey:

I just can not stand 45 caliber Glocks. I really only like them in 9mm, though I do own a G33.

Why the dislike? Grip size?

I shot a friends 21 sf the other day and it was the first time I shot a glock well. I just hold tighter patterns with a 1911

I considered getting a 21SF for a nightstand gun, but with the RIA railed model coming out around $650ish(?), I'd rather spend a little more and get a 1911.

Trust me, when I say no one appreciates a 1911 more than I, although, I am aware that your collection far surpasses even my wildest dreams, if it were the end of days, and S has HTF, I want a G21. That being said, if you haven't seen this, give it a look, it's worth it!

Oh, you know. The constant loading of magazines, the relentless cleaning every thousand rounds or so. Shakin' the dirt, dust, sand, grass, weeds, twigs and rocks out of the mags every 10 or 20 years. Picking up all those bowling pins and knocking them down again. Gets tedious.

I think he referring to the addiction factor 1911's are like Pringles you cant just have 1. They aint cheap like Glocks but man there so much nicer.

I am going to guess that you are a fellow CA resident.. if that is the case.. yer gonna be stuck with the Glock.. as far as I know the SR1911 is not a CA legal pistol..

Maybe its just me but if its SHTF I pefer my 686 for primer SD loaded with SJHP. Backup hands down would be my 1911 and a half dozen mags. I pefer old school over new school anyday.

I couldn't agree more... To me the .45 Glocks are very sub par firearms... Plus they are so damn bulky... However, the 9mm Glocks are superb firearms...

It's been a few weeks since I checked, but I thought $649 seemed to be the average price? Not the $750 posted in this link or the $825 (whatever it was) posted in another link.

Thanks. I'll need to go back and take a look to see what my local store is charging. I thought anything under $650 was going to be a good deal for one of these.

If I had to choose for a life or death situation, it would be a 21SF.

the absolute only way i'd pick a 21 over a 1911 if is i was on the front line being shot at and i was out of rifle ammo. then, yes i would want 5 more rds. but at 50 yrs old, that ain't gonna happen. and if we're ever invaded, trust me. i ain't running out of guns or ammo. just plain ol life or death, i'll take the 1911.
