I usually carry an HK USP 45C, but I've grown tired of how difficult it is to track down parts and accessories. I'm considering Kimber and Sig. But can't come up with too many other options. I know, I know. Why would I buy a 1911 from Sig? I love Sig due to their quality, reliability, and customer service (at least in my experience). The "1911 Carry Nitron" really caught my eye." I'm a fan of the non-skeletonized trigger.

http://sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/1911-carry-nitron.aspx
That's the look I'm going for.

I know Wilson and Les Bayer are well regarded. But I'm just not into Bayers, except for the Thunder Ranch model.

Beautiful Wilson
http://www.wilsoncombat.com/p_ulc-compact.htm

Of course I shudder to think how much those cost.

Any suggestions?

By the way. What's so great about Kimber? They seem to be extremely popular, and like that they sell all the spare parts on their website. But their warranty doesn't seem very generous. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Budget? Any features that are a must for you? Size of barrel that you want as a minimal?

As for Kimber's warranty, it's a 1-year from DOP. If there's an issue, most manufactures will tell you to run the 500-rounds thru it BS. I believe a gun will work or not. If not there's a QC issue.

Kimber sells a lot of 1911's cause they put a LARGE amount of ads in magazines.

Kimber build the Special 1911 the LAPD SWAT Teams Wanted, and proved they can build quality if the order had to be quality.

For Joe Blow it is a maybe quality if the wind is blowing in that direction. JMHO.

That's what scares me regarding Kimber. I'm no LAPD SWAT member. I'd like something with a 4" barrel. The ability to buy spare parts easily would be nice. Don't care at all about night sights. Price isn't that important. I plan to keep the gun forever, and I only plan to buy one 1911. But you know how that goes! Never say never.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Given your HK45C, do you want full grip or a shorter grip frame? Or how about a bobtail grip frame? Stainless or Carbon w/ sometype of coating? Two-tone or single tone? Right-handed or left-handed that requires an ambi TS?

I love the S&W warranty. But they are made in evil Massachusetts. j/k. Nice guns. I shot one at a range. But I'm not a huge fan.

I love the Sig. That would be my starting point. It has the look I want. But I don't mind the tactical look of the Wilson. Definitely want blued or matte rather than stainless.

Right handed, single tone, full size grip preferably.

I'm not a big Sig fan. Just don't like the look. Nothing against their QC. But if that's what you want, then go for it. Nothing wrong with it. Some have said that given Sig's special profile on their slide, it's a little tough to fit into a traditional 1911 holster.

The Wilsons are really nice. But the Wilson that you'd listed is a shorter grip frame. So if you're looking for a full size frame, then try a different model of Wilson.

You seem to have written of Baers, any particular reason?

My Baer Stinger is my favorite EDC piece, by far, and I have a "few" others to choose from. I consider the CCO to be the perfect 1911 carry configuration.

I like to train with what I carry, so I use my Stinger to shoot weekly steel matches, and it makes me look good. It's very accurate, and eats whatever I feed it.

They can be had for around $1600 in blue. Not sure what your budget is, but it's much less than a Wilson would be.

Good luck with the decision making process. So many choices.... :)

You know, if you get one that does not sling-shot Mr. Harrison can fix it right up for not much $$. I know you shouldn't have to do this, but it is well worth it! I can show you vids of mine running through a steel match like a chain saw through butter!

OP, if you get the Baer, i personally would factor another $400-500 into the price to send it to Harrison. My comanche had some issues, and the results are still pending since it is back at the factory for the 2nd time, but many other guys have had similar problems. I wish i had researched it more before i bought the gun. Harrison will ensure the gun runs like it should out of the box.

I will say that the Baers are VERY high quality and extremely accurate. CJ also has the best prices around. I would carry a Baer comanche/stinger in a second after Harrison was done with it, but i would NOT carry one stock after my personal experience. Kobra carry or Wilson would be my other choices.
