Sheriff Karnes (Franklin County Sheriffs Office, Columbus Ohio) lost his battle with pancreatic cancer today. He's been the Sheriff for quite some time and will be missed.

I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but I've never heard a bad thing about him.

So long Sheriff, we'll keep things going from here.

He gave me a job in 1997. Good guy. Huge. They didn't call him "Big Jim" for nothing.

I last saw him at Dep Brandon Moore's fundraiser a few months ago. He looked good at that time.

Mourning band on. RIP, Sheriff.

I find it heart warming that in today's climate of internet anonymity, with anti-LE sentiment being spewed constantly on the news sites, not a single comment to the news articles announcing Jim Karnes death have been negative. Everyone is coming out in support of a great man, and I think that speaks volumes for his character.

Perhaps there's hope for society still.

FiremanMike, that is certainly true. Especially being that he is an elected official, and has been there for a very long time.

RIP
