I certainly didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. It is a production Colt.....nothing more, nothing less. I am of the opinion that the Gunsite Rollmark is a pretty expensive addition to the pistol. I am sure they are a good, reliable pistol.....just a little overpriced. Just my opinion, though....

I am not bickering at all......I just stated MY opinion. I could care less what people choose to spend their own hard earned money on. I have several pistols that others would not set up the same way.....I just don't see the problem. If it works for me, I could care less if somebody else thinks I wasted my money. Good lord......

I don't really keep up with Colts, don't care for them much personally. But even then if its accurate and reliable and setup like you want $1200 isn't a bad deal IMO.

glock2740
06-03-2011, 22:58
I'd agree, that based on the specs of the gun, that $1200 isn't that bad of a deal on this particular gun. As compared to several Kimber's that cost more and don't appear to be built with as many decent parts. But, it's not an $1800 gun, IMO.

I posted the only cell phone pic I have of it above.

Never did I intend to say it is an $1800 pistol. But clearly to purchase a new production series 70 Colt and add a NM barrel, carry bevel, Novak sights, thumb safety, grip safety and two Wilson 47D mags with metal base plates would cost substantially more than $800.

That is the only point I was attempting to make.

I still don't see anything. Are you using photobucket? I have really good luck with pic posting using photobucket. Does it have FCS? Sounds like a pretty cool gun, especially for the price, considering that most Kimbers go in that range, if not more. Does any one know if the upgraded parts are fitted by a Gunsite gunsmith, or as suggested earlier, they were sent out to be installed. Sending them out for each part, to several different companies doesn't make much sense, cost wise, as I would imagine that the shipping alone would drive the gun up another $200+/-. Have you got the chance to shoot it yet? And if so, how does she run?

I have been using the Glock Talk photo albums and linking feature.

The guns as I understand are built by Colt at the factory. Gunsite is supposed to check the trigger on each piece before selling, but I don't know if they actually do.

My specimen has been accurate and totally reliable. Again, it seems to be worth the cost.

yes, they have a gunsmith. he's the guy who does the special combat government. all this according to customer service. he needs some help. an apprentice or 3. he's had my colt for 6 mths. and i didn't order alot of work. i had 3 times that much done at sacs and it's been ready for 3 wks. both sent about the same time.
