But since it's a purpose built nightstand gun the goofy light rail is a must! Now I have to decide on a light.

.....man are railed 1911s are ugly (....cept for the sexy SA full-railed Milspec-Operator)

Honestly, it wouldn't looks so bad if the hammer and grip safety was stainless.

I have a stainless grip safety but I don't believe there is a wide-spur stainless hammer.

Yeah, I believe Mason made one but quality was poor.

Listen, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. As long as you like it, right.

Function over form.

I like the looks.....excluding the rail. I've never cared for railed 1911 pistols.

I have a snazzy airsoft M4 that I use on the neighbor cats to keep them from crapping in my yard.

.............great fun!!

No offense intended (your gun, do what you want to) but I don't get the older style grip safety and hammer...with the Novak style rear sight. They just don't go together to me. With the modern looking rear sight there is no harm in having a higher (usually means more control) grip, offered by the beaver tail.

YMMV,
Dave

no offense taken

After a decade or so of 1911 time I prefer the A1 features.

Can't go wrong with a Surefire X300 light.

Gun did look pretty good prior to the rail but like you I cant stand railed 1911 except this one http://www.nighthawktactical.com/GRP_Recon.html I don't know why but that one looks so good.

If it had a retro GI rear sight, I'd like it a WHOLE lot more.
Over all,........it looks pretty good!

The new TLR-1 with the led is bright as heJJ!

I'd like it better also with GI sights, they look sexy on the stainless. I just had to have one of these Rugers. Either way I could not desecrate one of my 1911A1 beauties with a light rail though so the SR was the logical choice. I am leaning toward the TLR.

...........damn rollmark made me do it!

I have always thought the older grip safety looks better, but I always use an extended one due to the functioning being much better for me.

I like the rail, but it does need a stainless grip safety to finish it off.

I like a railed 1911 from a practical standpoint. I prefer the classic lines however. I just picked up the TLR-3 so it could do double duty on my comnpact guns and have to say I like it so far.
