Hey Everyone,
Seems like I got the bugs worked out of my new Kimber Ultra CDP Pro and she shoots 230 grain FMJ flawlessly. I've tried to slowly introduce JHP's and have still had a few fail to feeds (not too bad - but I'm still leary for EDC). I've been trying Winchester White Box Self Defense. Does anyone know of any JHP that seems to feed more reliably? It looks like the Cor-Bon's have a profile more similar to ball ammo. is that the issue (profile?). Any ideas are appreciated!

It seems like the more I shoot it - the more foregiving she becomes (They suggest 500 rounds of FMJ to break in). I'm approaching that and feel better each time at the range - just looking if I can help the process....

+1 on this. I would have failure to go into battery problems even with FMJs until I switched the recoil spring. Now it's 100%.
I have heard and read the same thing regarding the springs for years so I would guess it is true. I do not think bullet shape is the issue, just my .02

DOH, I re-read your post and realized mine was irrelevant.
I've had issues with Winchester Ranger SXTs in 4 / 4.25" 1911s. Bummer, as I have a bunch. Oh well, works in my G30. :dunno:
I had good luck with 230 Gold Dots in my Kimber (after replacing the recoil spring as suggested below), and it's what I now have in my Kobra Carry.

I looked at this as suggested - but it states 4" and the CDP Ultra is a 3". I'm assuming that matters?

Ok,....so it's an Ultra not a Pro?
Guess I missed the Ultra and zeroed in on the Pro.....then that spring will NOT work
Try this: KIMBER UC XP RECOIL SPRING SET 21 LBS # 51821
http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto%20Pistols/KIMBER/Ultra-Carry%20.45ACP/cID1/mID32/dID414
I'm not sure it will work, but it's cheaper than postage back to Kimber. Worth a shot?

Gold Dots have been the most reliable in all of my 1911s.
