Will I finished the personal touches to my 1911 and am so happy I thought I post about it.

1. GI Recoil rod and Cap
2. Colt GI safety
3. New Grips

I can say with out a doubt my 1911 is what I dreamed of as my first 1911. It wasn't overly expensive but it is mine and its to my taste I couldn't be happier.

So what do you guys think?

Look great, I like the grips as well. Slap a short solid trigger in that and it would be super sweet :) C&S makes a very nice one. Congrats, nice 1911 you have there.

is that a hollow point I see down the barrel?

is that a hollow point I see down the barrel?

Could be, but looks to be a light reflection off of the inside of the barrel causing it to look like the end of a JHP. :dunno:

I thought the same thing but it was unloaded. I think it was the angle I took the photo at with the flash. I just was not comfortable pointing a gun loaded or unloaded at my head to take a proper straight on photo. It does look pretty cool.

Thanks everyone I am super happy with it. I will have to look at changing the trigger out later down the road after I learned a but more about 1911's. I would also like to later down the road maybe in a few years have it refinished. I am thinking if I do I will go with a high quality Parkerized finish to keep the same look.

Thanks the grips are Cylinder and Slides red/black Double Diamond.

Yea I spot checked the chamber and placed a unloaded mag in it. Some reason the Wilson mag does not feed JHP at all so its always unloaded for range duty. I do admit it does look like the gun was loaded when I took the photo.

I think it looks great, I really like those grips. Let us know how you like it, an RIA is on my short list. Was trying to decide between that and a 92fs a couple of weeks ago, then the wife stepped in and wound up with nothing.

Already got around 500 rounds thought it and love it. Easily my favorite semi auto it and my 686 take top spots when it comes to favorites to shoot. The gun overall is extremely will built offers a ton of bang for your buck. Its extremely tight shooting to. I can keep 1inch groups free hand at about 15 feet so its more accurate then I am. The only reason I made some changes to it was because there where certain things I like better on a 1911. More then likely I would make the changes to any 1911 I got short of it being a semi-custom or custom gun.

Thanks guys

Everyone keeps telling me I need a new trigger so might end up getting a new trigger sooner then I planned. Any suggestions I prefer aluminum or steel with black finish. Also any idea what the cost of getting a trigger installed is. Just not something I am ready to do yet on my own.

Doesn't matter what it cost, that is a very nice looking 1911. You did well for your first one!

You should try it. I remember my first one and I was scared too. Then I figured the worst I could do was trash the new trigger and have to drop the old one in, so I did it. It turned out great and I no longer hesitate to make the change.

You don't need to buy much, and there are lots of folks here who can walk you through the process - and help if you get stuck. I think you will be surprised at how easy it is.

Look at Harrison Custom for the black trigger.

Or if not, then you can try some Gun Kote over any aluminum trigger. I did it on my Wilson flat trigger.

As for the install, it's not that bad. We can walk you thru it.

i like it a lot! it's to the point without 1800 bells and whistles you don't need.

the grips give it a business appearance. not to flashy, but not blah

If I can install a 1911 trigger successfully (I have installed 7 I think) then believe me when I say you can do it. I have zero mechanical skills :)

I have 4 triggers that I'm not going to use ever again. The 2 on the left are out of MA's and the top on the right is Colt, bottom right is SA. Pick one and I'll send it to ya.
