I have never bought a gun with out seeing or touching it

I think both have an enviable reputation, so you'll probably be just fine.

What does the enhancement package include?

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Dawson. Not sure about the enhancement package.

this is what it says:

<TABLE class=table-main-table border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD id=content vAlign=top>Enhancement Package is simply making a great pistol better. Dave Dawson checks each pistol top to bottom for fit, function and appearance . We setup the breech face, extractor, ejector, mag release and feed ramp the same way we would a DP custom built pistol. Next we install a DP sear spring and tune the action. Then the pistol is test fired for flawless function, accuracy and zeroed at 25 yards. Hey if you were buying a Mustang how cool would it be to have Shelby tune it up a little first..

Ditto. It doesn't sound like it's worth an extra $200 IMO. I'd rather pay an extra $300 and have it hardchromed. I know that's hard for some of you to believe. :whistling:

I would expect it to run out of the box without it... I don't see anything in the 200 that is worth it.

I almost read it as "Pay 200 bucks and we make sure it doesn't need a trip back to the factory..." Which is somewhat scary, but I know STIs are generally thought of as a reliable 1911.

Shooters Connection also looks like they have some STI's in stock. I don't know if DP stocks them or does drop ship orders. I know DP is a good company though for what its worth.

I would go for the enhancement package.

My 9mm Trojan is a great gun but not too reliable. It needs some tuning.

It runs about 96-98% out of the box on 124 grain NATO and American Eagle. About the same on WWB.

Got my Ranger II from them. Absolutely top notch folks!
I did not the the enhancement package and mine has been 100%.
I did have them put their thinnest fiber optic front posts on it which made the sight picture easy to pick up and precision shots are a breeze even with my less than stellar eyesight.

Do it, but for Pete's sake... go with .45ACP

STI-excellent. DP, I've used them for parts, etc and they were good to deal with. I would expect the same for their firearms transactions.

Have you tried other magazines? It should feed ball ammo 100%.

I've only used the Metalform it came with.

It seems like everyone has good luck with the Tripps.

I would pass on the $200 Enhancement Package, but I feel confident in doing all that myself.

STI have some great CS. So if it doesn't run out of the box, then call them up. $200 is better for the ammo.

I have 2, 1 from them and 1 from STI.

They are amazing guns and worth every penny. Seriously my Trojan's are my most shot 1911's

My stock Trojan has been awesome. I could count the number of failures on two hands after >6000 rounds, and almost all of those have been reloads.

Great gun.

I ordered my TargetMaster .45 through them, had them install their Hi-viz front. The best pistol I own, neck and neck with the Caspian custom. Vickers can suck my Glock.

My Trojan is ribbed for pleasure.

Sorry, guys, but I can't take a gun or a manufacturer seriously when they're named like the condom.
