Question on glock trigger.

Hello all,

New member here. Got a Glock 22, first pistol I have ever owned.
I have a question on the trigger. It seems that it takes a long time before the striker is fired. I mean it is a long pull before it engages. is this what trigger pull weight is? Would going to a lighter trigger shorten the pull? Or is is this more pre-travel? I understand post travel is how far the trigger has to go before it resets.

The trigger pull seems long because it is doing a lot of things in preparation to firing. The trigger pull moves the striker rearward, ready for release. Also disengages the firing pin safety and moves past the drop safety.
Reducing the trigger weight does not affect the pre-travel (as described above).
Post travel is the distance the trigger moves rearward "after the gun fires".
