My current EDC. Even the knife is smaller :) Actually, I shot the pic for the Spyderco guys to get an idea of how big the new knife is, and I used the G27 as the reference for that:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/Beanie-Bean/Glock/fc216ed8.jpg

The sights are Trijicon HD, and if you hit the front site with a 200-lumen LED, it will glow in the dark. Ammo is Hornady Critical Defense.

Knife is the new Spyderco Squeak. It's a non-locking, short-blade knife that should be legal to carry just about anywhere.

Same gun, I just hated the XS bigdots. Now their heinies. Love em. Sights are like underwear, it's all personal preference. The talon grips are amazing, I have no issues with them, as far as carry. When they're new, they're VERY "grippy", however about a month of carry/use have turned them into the best grip option I've found for the glock. Other suede-like material loses it's grip texture, and the rubber stays too sticky, as well as in AZ, rubber just gets too soft in the heat.

Where did you get the belt clips? I'm getting ready to give holster building a try and need some clips like that.

I made em. Used a piece of wood that was slightly larger than the width/thickness of my belt. Folded it over, pressed it just like I did the gun and holster. Kydex is VERY forgiving, don't be affraid to mess up, you can always reheat it, and it will go back to flat, and then you can form it again. Countless times, it won't lose it's strength. It's great material.

DLL9mm,

If you don't already own any Spyderco blades, I must caution you that these things multiply, much like Glocks. They are a great company to deal with, and the President/CEO is often posting on the many forums, too.

Bento Box Shop, Howes Knives, Cutlery Shoppe, Knifeworks, New Graham Knives, Blade HQ are all good places to order them.

It slims the profile of the upper, making it "seem" more compact. Also, the slimmer slide makes it fit in Glock 19/23 holsters. I really like this set-up.

Well, I've got a couple of G26's and a G27 which sometimes see use as retirement weapons. They just look like subcompact Glocks, though, so no need to take up bandwidth. ;)

The non-locking little Spyderco is nice for those situations where a locking blade might be illegal.

Ditto the length of the blade. I have a couple of folders for just such situations (meaning just the shorter blades).

I often have anywhere from 1-4 folding knives on my person. Usually at least a pair of them.

I noticed the Trijicon HD night sights in the OP's pic. I've been considering trying a set of them since the Mep's on my G27 are coming up on 12 years old, and they'll probably require replacement sooner rather than later. I like a very visible front sight on my night sights when using it in normal/daylight conditions.

I've got a couple of guns with Ashley/XS sights. While they're surprisingly great on my M&P 340 (standard front dot), I've been a bit ambivalent about the older Big Dot's I've had on one of my .45's for a lot longer. I've been giving them a chance for the last several years (not being in any particular hurry), and I'm thinking I might like to fire the next several thousand rounds through that .45 using another sight setup. (I think the Ashley's are the 3rd set of sights I've had on that particular .45, too.)

Nice EDC setups, guys!

fastbolt,

That's exactly why I got the little Spyderco--for those times when non-knife people get squeamish at the sight of a 3.5" blade being deployed quickly. Plus, it's one of their newer releases :)

The Trijicon HDs I've installed on that G27 were the orange outline version. I think you'll like them if you like the 3-dot system.

I'm thinking of ordering one of these soon. How long have you been using this setup and how do you like it?

I have one of the hybrid leather/kydex IWB setups and I can't get comfortable with it. Especially 'sitting' with it on, either in the car or anywhere, the gun jabs into my back or side, depending on what position I wear it in.

This is why I'm considering going the owb route, I'm just not sure wether it will be any different comfort wise when sitting.

I thought about buying some cheap owb just to see if it works for me before ordering a $100 version.

Thanks and sorry for the hijack, I'll post some EDC photos as soon as I take them. =)

Oh! One more thing, a couple of you are using the rubber grip sleeve, who makes this version? I have the pachmayr tactical but not sure if I like them or not.

Been using a Raven for alittle over a year now. Best OWB/IWB holster I have used. Very comfortable either way. I wish the wait was alittle shorter, but they are worth it.

Glock 33 in Desantis Nemesis pocket holster.

Whenever my Kahr CM9 gets here, it will be the pocket gun and I will move the 33 back to the hip in an XConcealment holster and dump the spare mag for the Glock. Then again, I might dump the 33 and bring back the 32 for hip carry.

I usually carry a small folding pocket knife, it's whatever is sitting around that I grab, it's usually my small HK Ally folding knife.

-G23 mag in a kydex mag carrier made by a fellow GT member (mag also loaded with 165gr Gold Dots)
-Kershaw Skyline
-Kershaw ACE (usually not on keychain)
-iPhone 3GS (used to take photo)
-Crappy wallet with to much stuff in it and to little money
-Comp-Tac Kydex reinforced contour belt

This is what is generally on my person, but I also keep an extra G23 mag or two in my cherokee as well as basic necessities; including but not limited to: duct tape, tow straps, oil, coolant, bungees, a few gallons of water, larger fixed blade knife, etc etc. I continually add to my "kit" as I find things that work better for me. Also, the 27 has been more frequently carried as of late, but my beloved "older" 98 czk prefix G23 gets a good amount of rotation too.

Nice setup!

Nice setup!

Thanks! I didn't know that the thread was going to keep rolling on--I originally wanted to show the Glock I was carrying that day, along with a new knife which was really small, but very handy. Putting it next to the G27 shows how small it is, and (hopefully) provided members in both the Glock and Spyderco forums an idea of the size of the knife if they didn't already have one on order.

I like to rotate through my smaller pistols at the moment, but am sure that the bigger ones will come into rotation as the weather cools off.

Thanks for looking!

So many pistols, so few spare mags. Tsk tsk tsk. (and no it's not about extra ammo... it's about having a back up for the most unreliable part of a semi-auto pistol)

Here's mine.
http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/6125/img5854y.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/829/img5854y.jpg/)

I make changes depending upon where I'm going or what I'm wearing. On the left is a couple of holster options that I typically alternate between for my LCP. The LCP has a Crimson Trace laser sight. The holsters are a Huntsman and DeSantis.

The small flashlight uses one AAA battery. It's an ITP A3 EOS with 3 different luminance settings from 1.5 lumens at low to 18 lumens at medium to 80 lumens at high.

The belt is from Beltman. I love it. Very sturdy.

MTAC holster for the G19. I could fill the screen with my other holster variants. That just happens to be the one that I now use the most.

Kershaw Whirlwind pocket knife. I love the Ken Onion knives.

Cheap cell phone. It seems everyone in the family has a nice phone but the guy who pays the bills:supergrin:

Is FOX the best pepper spray for defense on humans and dogs?

I can only answer that with an opinion, since I don't know whether there has been a series of comparison tests. FoxLabs sprays is quite strong with its 5.3M SHU. I believe that's one of the highest you can buy. There are some that are argue that once you get beyond 2M, the additional amount doesn't make that much difference if any - i.e., 4M is not twice as effective as 2M because your body cannot really tell the difference. I don't know whether that's accurate or not...just letting you know that some have made that assertion. In either case, FoxLabs has been demonstrated as being very effective.

I would also add that the affects vary from person to person and are dependent upon using it properly too.

As for animals, I can only say that I know of one person that used it on a dog and he found it to be very effective.

It's great to hear this. Glad you like your gen 4 g19. Mine is a new gen 3 g19 and I am having some issues.(stovepipes and erratic ejections) I have a LWD extractor on order so we will see if this will cure the issues.(extractor obviously on backorder until 9-7, we will see if that is so...)

Some of you guys carry a LOT of stuff. I keep it pretty simple with either a G17 or G23 in a Sidearmor IWB and a Benchmade folder. If I'm traveling out of town I may carry a spare mag (or two) either in the car or in a Comp-Tac mag carrier, but not always.

You know I was going to say the opposite. So many fail to carry a spare mag (which is the most likely part to fail) and a flashlight. Let's face it guys if something does happen it will very likely be in low or no light yet so many are choosing to forgo even a small light, I just don't get it. In all honesty at this point I carry in the same way I compete to simplify things. For me that means a gun and two spare mags. I also make sure to have a light with me as it makes life easier and may be useful in a defensive situation. As far as a knife sometimes yes and sometimes no, honestly it is for mundane tasks not SD since I have not trained to use one. I would say that some overdo it with the spare gun and mags and two knifes ect. But those of you who toss on a gun and call it good are either not thinking it through or have a distinct lack of training.

For me, I have trained with a knife (many years ago). However I use that knife for everyday tasks. It's a handy, multipurpose tool. The flashlight is used almost daily too. I've got others but that one is just convenient for my needs. Since I'm up and about while it's still dark in the morning, it works great.

Spare mags are important to me. It is certainly possible that you may need remove a mag to clear a malfunction...I see at matches often (usually due to an error by the user). However regardless of the cause, I'd rather have another mag versus counting on not dropping the one in the gun. I have seen many times where the round at the top of the mag gets moved into a bad position from being dropped (round gets skewed pointing down into the mag). And of course, there's the whole discussion about having additional ammo.

Pepper spray is an excellent non-lethal option in a situation where lethal force is not needed or justified.

As for the spare gun, like I put in my post...depends on where I'm going. I might have just the LCP, might have just the G19, might have both,...it all depends on my assessment of risk.

As for the idiot making the comment about "noobs", I would just say that what is good for one person may seem overkill for another. Since people live in different areas, have different perceptions of risks, etc, it's unlikely that what works well for one will be deemed the perfect fit for another. Of course, only training and common sense would lead to that conclusion...versus, well never mind :whistling:

It's funny that you assume that people carry a flashlight purely for SD. I suppose you think the cell phone that people have shown is envisioned as a weapon.

The flashlight is a tool...just like the other items. It has many uses. Mine is not self defense. While I use it most mornings to avoid getting run over while it's dark, I did use it some time ago when I heard a noise around a neighbor's home at 4:30am...when I knew the neighbor was not in the home. I looked from where I was standing to verify there was no critter causing the noise, then I whipped out my trusty cell phone and called the police.

Just one example of how some EDC items are used where it goes well beyond the narrow minded, poorly thought out assumptions that you apparently possess. Oh yea, in that particular case I had limited my carry to an LCP, pocket knife, cell phone, and flashlight...just another example of carrying what I perceive is needed for the situation.

Now whether a flashlight being used to blind, search, as a blunt force instrument using the end, etc...those are all discussions for another thread. I believe this thread was intended to show various EDC choices / equipment that folks carry.

Thanks for clarifying. Apparently there are some that believe their rules, their choices, their equipment or lack thereof apply to everyone.

I am quite comfortable carrying my LCP, pocket knife, and cell phone for a quick trip to the local grocery store. I believe the risk of incident low. If I need to venture to another part of town where I perceive the risk to be much higher, I would carry more and or different items.

How someone assesses risk and decides what is acceptable risk or not, is purely subjective. Someone may be find that carrying just pepper spray is fine for them and that they are taking on an acceptable risk in doing so. That's perfectly fine...and up to them. It's impossible for me or anyone else to determine what risks they are taking on, etc since we don't walk in their shoes. That's why it's absolutely absurd and idiotic for someone to reply on this thread with comments that indicate someone else's choices are overkill. Just plain foolish, IMHO.

I see no relevance in your examples that pertain where the flashlight was being carried on you as part of your EDC rig.
