We can now carry any semi auto as long as you qualified with a semi auto on your permit or you do it now. Before today you had to pay $25.00 and add it to your permit. New law went in to effect today.

I will carry this today just because I can.

LOL nice.....

I'm waiting for the NICS exemption to get reinstated just so I can buy a G36 and not pay the background check.

I hear you. That $25.00 charge when you have a CCW is BS.

Was it July 1 or Oct. 1?

July1, Oct is for the rest of the details such as CCW holders being private, etc.

It was 10-01-2011, but it was moved up to 07-01-2011.

AB143 was signed into law on 05-31-2011 and goes into effect on 10-01-2011.
AB143 did two things.
#1. Changed semi-auto pistols into a category.
#2. CCW permit holder/applicant confidentiality.

AB282 was signed into law on 06-17-2011 and goes into effect on 07-01-2011.
AB282 did four things.
#1. Changed semi-auto pistols into a category.
#2. CCW permit holder/applicant confidentiality.
#3. Legal to carry in state parks.
#4. Allows permit holders to meet the required qualification for NICS exemptions to firearms transfered via FFL dealer. Actual NICS exemption is pending final approval from BATFE (this may take several months for the BATFE to make a ruling).
