View Full Version : Kimber TLE II/RL
I used the search feature and did not find any infomation I was looking for. In the upcomming weeks I am looking at buying my first 1911. My heart is set on the Kimber TLE II/RL 4 inch barrel. I am looking for any feedback, good or bad. All help is greatly appreciated.

check the sticky up top for starters. lots of kimber fans here.
I have always liked that model in either stainless or the traditional finish. I think you will be happy with it. The only down side is holsters will be tougher to find for it due to the rail if you plan to carry it. You can find them, it will just take a little more looking is all.

If you are deadset on a Kimber, that is a good choice. Lots of bang for the buck.
I used to have the 5" Custom TLE/RL II. Great shooting weapon. Lots weight on the muzzle end. Followup shots were perceived as easier.
I ended up selling it and my MC Operator because I preferred the light in my hand as opposed to being mounted on the weapon.
Your mileage may vary. Give it a try. I have a few friends who really like theirs.

My wife has a 4" stainless Kimber Pro TLE II/RL, and it's been flawless. In my opinion, the fit and look is very nice, and it shoots great. I say go for it and good luck!

As many Kimbers as I have and I can't believe that I don't own a TLE yet. :dunno:It's probably favorite model other than the Gold Combat. I say go for it.

Love me a 1911 with some wear on it! Nice gun :)
Thank you all for your replies. Now all I need is to find a dealer that has them. I visited 3 dealers and they had none in stock. All 3 said that I would possibly be looking at a 6-8 month waiting period, that is Kimbers turn around time for orders. I am diligent and will keep searching. When it is in hand, I will be sure to post pictures......... because I know that without pictures, it did not happen. LOL!

They have a stainless steel one at Carters Country in Houston, I can provide the contact info if you are interested. It is not priced all that low at $1288 but it is there. :wavey:

My TLE took exactly 8 months. They're like Milt Sparks holsters. demand is very high
I have the Kimber Custom II which is the more basic version of the TLE (same internals) and it's been excellent for 1,200 rounds. I do have issues with the factory mag but with Wilson mags it's 100% reliable. I do wish I got the TLE, the night sights and frontstrap checking are easily worth the price bump. Don't pay over $1,100 though.

TLEs in 5" seem to be a lot more available around here than TLEs in 4" version. This is even more true with the rails.

The TLE II I had several years back was a real turd. Even after a trip back to Yonkers, it didn't run right. Shame. I really wanted to like that gun.
I know a lot of guys like them. I wish you better luck than I had.

I love my TLE II - I don't have the rail version, just the regular. It's been great with no problems. Just got some new grips in the mail today, so i need to post some pics.
