Hi, my name is Sgt45. I have become a GAPAHOLIC! I have three Glock .45GAPS. The G37,G38 and G39. I am looking at getting a GEN4 G37 soon. I love my GAPS. I have found my lost love- I shoot them soooooo well. My addiction is so bad I have traded or sold my .45 ACP's. here is a little story-

I have all three GAPS- G37,38 & 39. I carry my G39 all the time and love it.

For all the gap naysayers, whatever! I also was originally skeptical about the .45GAP, after all, I was a tried and true .40 and .45 ACP fan. I have been in LE for 30 years (still am). I started carrying issue Glocks in 1987 (G17). My Dept. issued 9mm's, then .40's. We finally settled on .45 ACP's in 2007. Another officer one day said, hey try this .45 GAP out. I thought he was nuts. after all, the .45 GAP was an answer to a question never asked, etc. Well I hesitantly shot that G38. After shooting it, I realized I was wrong and all the Internet super shooters out there were wrong too. That pistol shot sooooo nice. very accurate, easily controlled. I then tried the G39 and was sold. I own all three .45 GAP's now. I did research for my PD, I checked with all the State Police agencies that issued them, including PSP. Checked their testing and evaluations. They all loved the .45 GAP and praised them. My local troopers really like them too. Recently, Some officers on My dept., who were totally against the .45GAP have decided, after shooting the G38 and G37, they like them. We will be placing a order for G37's and G38's to replace our G30SF's and 21SF's. I never imagined that I would ever say or report this, but its true! You owe it to yourself to try the .45GAP before you trash it. It really is worth it. You will be surprised.

For what its worth, I have had them all at one time or another.
My off duty handguns included the following- S&W- 13, 3", 10, 19, 36,60,64,65, Ruger Speed Six, Colt Det. Spl. revolvers, S&W- 39,59,669 autos. Walther PPK, Astra Constable, FIE Pony, Colt Mustang, Colt Ofc. model, Colt Defender, Kimber CDP (?), Star PD, H&K .45 USP, SIG P228,229, 239, 250, Kahr PM9, Glock 19,26,27,29 & 30 (I really like the GEN4 G26 a lot!!!). But I found, in my opinion, after 30+ plus years that I really like the G39! Its compact, accurate, fairly light and shoots like hell. Try it! Like me, you may find- You Like it!

Hi. My name is Jeffrey, and I'm a GAPaholic.

I own a 37 and have sold a 37 and 38, all Gen3s. The 38 just didn't feel quite right, even with--or perhaps because of--the +1 extender. I do love to shoot the 37; it's the softest-shooting hi-power pistol I've ever shot. Currently it's my home-safe home-defense gun for my wife and me. I reload for it, and my XTP185s reach over 1000FPS at 10 feet and still 'feel soft'.

Ditto SGT45.

I am 64 and have owned and shot just about every hangun that I can think and a few that don't come to mind right now. I have carried daily since 1985 and that includes approx. 40-50 different guns, not to mention the ones I've owned that were not carry guns.

Late last year I decided to divest myself of several custom Colts, keeping one old war horse made in 1942. I then bought 5 Glocks. I had owned several before and carried a 19 on duty for the last 3-4 years before retiring several years ago.

My decision to go with the Glocks had a lot to do with dependability, ease of carry and the ability to do all my own work on them without having to send them off to a gunsmith for tweaking.

I have sold 2 of the Glocks to acquire a 38 and very recently a 39. That 39 is amazing to me. Both are the softest shooting .45 cal. guns I have ever had the pleasure to shoot, other than my 21.

The naysayers really don't have a clue or else lack practical experience in carrying a gun 8-12 hours a day that makes a big hole. They usually rely on the availability/cost of ammo when critisizing the round/gun. That argument is meaningless to me. GAP ammo is easily obtainable via the internet and the difference in cost between it and acp stuff is negligable to me. Like criticizing someone for buying a Cadillac instead of a Ford.

I believe the 39 is the best carry gun I have ever had my paws on and I intend to carry it daily for as long as I'm upright, with a few days of carrying one of the other Glocks so they don't feel neglected.

So where are the Gapaholic meetings? At a range I hope so we can swill to our hearts content. Count me in as a fellow Gapaholic.

My wife and I are both GAPaholics. We each have GEN 3 37,38,39 and I have a GEN 4 -37 that I'm using in GSSF this year. My G-39 is my EDC durning the summer and my G-38 fills that role the rest of the year.I'm looking forward to the release of the GEN 4 G-38.Her G-37 with Surefire X200 is her bedside gun and her G-39 or G-38 are her EDC pistols. It makes it nice when we are together as we have the same pistols and extra magazines.

Welcome all. Let's keep it going.

I must say that XXlarge has some good points that I forgot about.

Go figure, after 30 years in Law Enforcement (Patrol and Admin.) I finally found my perfect fit.

A .45 GAP meet or convention would be interesting.

Add me to the list. G38 is my best shooting Glock. Never seen (or heard of) anyone who after trying the GAP round didn't like it. I've converted several from ACP to GAP after they tried my G38. G39 is next on my list.

I debated keeping my 1911 for sentimental reasons, but heck, I'm ready to dump it, the Ruger P90, which shoots nicely, and all my ACP brass. I see no reason to keep an ACP around.

Hi, my name is Phil and I'm a GAPaholic. I have a G38 with a Insight XTI Procyon tactical light for my nightstand gun. For my ccw I have a G39. I to have won several people over with the G39. At sometime in the future, I plan on getting the G37.

This is the GAP forum so you are preaching to the choir. You should post it on the main auto forum after dressing in your best Kevlar.

Hey Sarge, I also love the GAP. Carry my 39 all the time too. After having several ACP's (including a Commander customized by Larry Kelly R.I.P. founder of Magnaport®) for the last 35 years, and a .40 for 10 years, I've sold them all. All that frontal diameter, in a short, lightweight, smooth shooting package. Doesn't get much better than that.

Lotsa Glocks- Hum, maybe I will! Not like I am not used to being in the firing line in print. After the last year of being in the papers every week, I think I can handle a forum or two!!!

Deye76- What were we thinking?? If I had a G39 years ago- Good God man!

Hey Phil, Hey Dudel !!!!!!!

By the way Guys- My PD just ordered some GEN4 G37's. Dealer said G4 G38 are unknown-suspect fall. We got a cases(1000 per case) of Federal 200 grn. TMJ for the same price as .45ACP. $225.00 per case. And guess what- They had plenty of it!!!!! So much for not being able to get the ammo. We also got a Price of $21.00 per box of 50 for Federal HST 230 grn. JHP.

I started with the 38 and loved it. Picked up a 37 and just got a 39. Put some rounds through the 39 and it will now be my EDC. Something about 45 power in such a small package that's easily controllable and concealable. I have a feeling I will be stocking up on more GAP Glocks as I find them. They are pretty rare in my parts. None of the local shops carry them because they say "GAP is a dying round."

Hey GAPAHOLICS- Brilliant deduction here - It appears as though most started with the G38 and fell in love. I love all three. Favorite is the G38. When the G38 GEN4 comes out, I predict we will get quite a few more GAPPERS.

I am sad to report that I have sinned. My addiction seems to be getting worse. OK, OK, forgive me-

" I bought a NIB Springfield Armory XD45LE .45 GAP" There I said it!! My god help me! I couldn't help myself!!!!! I got it cheap. I was having a moment when I bought it, I slipped, I don't know what got into me! I am sorry, but I did it!!! It's going to be my project .45GAP. I am going to see if I can get it to have a similar trigger etc. I have read there are a couple of trigger options out there. But believe me- It will never replace my GLOCK GAPS!!!!!! I love them too much.

Hey- That XD is just a project pistol. I adore my 3 GAPS!!!!!!! I shoot my G38 the best, Shoot and carry my G39 off duty, and really getting into my G4 G37. I still think the G38 is the best all around!!!!! Now where is the G4 G38? I "need" one. If you like your GAPS, let all these GLOCKTALKERS know it. Contrary to the NAYSAYERS, .45GAP is starting to pick up.

I started with the G38 and then got a Gen4 G37. I'm waiting for the Gen4 38 and 39s before I get another one. I absolutely love the GAP. I've also been extremely impressed with the price and accuracy of the Georgia-Arms ammunition. Both of my GAPs are the most accurate with it.

Hey Gappers:

Just a few questions about the GAP round. When was it introduced?, how many other gun manufacturers make GAP chambered pistols?, and is availability in local stores improving?
I have decided on a G30 but may get the G39 too.

I was a "Gapskeptic" - now I own all three models. Although tough to beat the G36 in 45ACP for a flat, concealable 45 auto pistol. And that model has its own unique following. Cheers.

Introduced in 2003. Ammo not that easy to find locally, but plentiful online...Midway USA, Cheaper Than Dirt, Cabella's, Georgia Arms, etc. Join the modern age of 45 ballistics!

I'm _______________ and I'm a glockaholic, albeit an over the hill one, and I have been playing hooky from these meetings because, welllllllll, there hasn't been one in a while. I like my other Glocks but the 39 simply cannot be beat for a big bore daily carry gun IMO.

I have a 38 and a 39 and believe they are the best two carry guns (especially the 39) I have ever shot and carried in 26 years of daily carry, having owned and shot many, many guns since 1974.

I know I have a problem and admitting it to others is the first step in curing this problem, along with finding and buying a 37 just because it is a disease that needs feeding. If this doesn't cure my sickness I'll have to get serious and start all over again by getting another 38, 39 and 37 in that order.:wow:

Once I complete this 12 step buying program (could get expensive) I know I will be sober.

I am looking to GAP soon. I have already started buying brass before owning one. I have shot my friends 39. I wanted to pick up a police trade in G3 37, but I saw an article on the new G4 having a larger guide rod/spring setup. There must be a reason for it. So I was thinking of getting the G4 37. But, a few of you really love the 38. Should I wait for a G4 38? Should I get the 37 because I'll get one anyway when the sickness spreads? You guys confuse me. My first purpose was for target and GSSF next year for heavy metal. I already have a G33 for ccw at the moment among a 19 and 22.

I have a gen3 G37, so maybe my opinion is a little biased. It is a proven reliable platform, so that's what I would get and there is more affordable after market accessories for it now - such as ss guide rods, sites, trigger springs and connectors. I prefer the G37 and G39 over the G38, but that's just me.

BTW, good deal on a G37 here:

I have a Gen3 G38 and a Gen4 G37 and I prefer the feel of the Gen4 as I have small hands but I prefer the size of the G38. My ideal GAP will be a Gen4 G38. GLOCK subcompacts grips are too small for me. I can conceal my G38 just as easily as I could my G26 which I have since sold.

I just added a G39 to my stable. I found some 200gr. Gold Dots online for $12.30 per box. I'll be using that as my carry round as a CCW and getting some Lawman 200gr. TMJ for range work. I may try some of GA Arms "Canned Heat" as well.

I see a Gen4 G37 in my future too!

I found it by searching on google for 200gr Gold Dot 45 GAP in the shopping section.

I ordered two boxes just to test the "too good to be true" pricing on an unknown website -- they arrived today.

So, I ordered the last three boxes they had listed this evening. Maybe they will list some more for sale soon. It was factory new, fresh ammo in pristine boxes. Ordered on the 10th and arrived via UPS today.
