with your years of experience is over penetration of service rounds [high quality sd hollowpoints from the top four ammo co.] in 9mm, .40, 357sig, and the .45acp a real liability after passing through a bad guy? i mean would those rounds have enough horsepower to do real harm after passing through a body, lets say COM hits?

Depends on the many variables. A lung shot that passes between intercostal spaces on a scrawny, anorexic junkie can go through with enough power to kill with any of the best service JHPs, while most can be expected to remain in the body with a sternum-into-spine shot on a Sumo wrestler. It's a matter of playing the odds.

Since the widespread adoption of high-tech hollow points, we're seeing far fewer secondary victims of shoot-throughs than we saw in the days of round nose lead, full metal jacket, and even the early plain vanilla copper jacketed 147 grain JHP 9mm.

Wish I could be more concrete for ya, but there are few absolutes in this subject matter.
