IMHO this pistol has got to be one of the best values out there for a stainless 1911 that's made here in the USA.
Now all I need is some new grips. What say you 1911 folks? What looks good on my Ruger?
VZ for sure!! I like the Operator II's, Gunner grips, Recons, and Aliens. All will look extremely sexy

Nice wood grips look the best. But I'm an old carpenter who loves wood. Boy did I open a door.

I guess you are used to fondling wood then?:tongueout:
VZ gets my vote.
Congrats, I havent even been able to see one in person yet.
My dealer has only been able to get one in, and it sold in under an hour.

They are a nice looking gun. From what I've seen they beat out the value line of Springfield Armory by a wide margin.

I'd have to start by replacing the blued small bits. The factory grips I've seen appear just fine for me.

I was going to change the grips on my SR1911 so I wasn't like everyone else but they are made of some high quality wood and look nice too. I don't remember what type of wood (Cocobolo?) but they are heavy when held off the gun compared to many other wood grips I've felt.

BTW, Congrats on the purchase! Ruger really did the SR1911 right the first time. Since Ruger is kind of a safety sally I was surprised that it was a 70 series firing pin, but that might just mean they actually listened and read what people want.
I really like the Rugers, congrats. Those VZ grips look pretty sweet.

I got it at a local gun store. I've been waiting to see one in person and I was so impressed I bought it. I was going to get a Remington R1, but really wanted a stainless so I held out. Glad I did.

The Ruger is certainly a nice value.

That looks so much better with matching controls.
I've always loved Ruger and the SR 1911 looks like another winner. Good luck and enjoy!
The Ruger is certainly a nice value.
I wish I could find one.
There haven't been any in my area gun stores.
I can't even find one on line.
I think it will be interesting to see where they go with their 1911's now that they've seen how good the market is for them.

I haven't really had a problem locating one, hell, even my LGS has one for "only" $759(5% off retail). THAT is the problem, any I find will be around $800+ after tax locally or the same after shipping + FFL fee.
The idea of finding one anywhere near the $600-650 most people on this forum seem to have access to is simply not happening here.

Holy crap. 1150 for a used SR1911? That dude is smoking some good stuff. At least he is generous enough to not charge shipping and FFL fees.....
Yeah, here's the used one starting at $875. I can't stand crap like this.
I bought mine new for $600. :steamed:

My LGS had one from the start. He will not sell it. He is using it as a demo gun. He has so many orders that are not being filled. I was in there the other day and there were 2 guys trying to get him to sell it. They hit $900 and finally left. I was talking to the owner and said why sell it. I may make a chunk of money now but can make even more on all the orders. I agree, I dont buy a gun I cant hold and know alot of guys that feel the same way. I have never ordered a gun online because My LGS honors gunbrokers prices. If they have it for 600, he sell it for 600, and this includes all the fees, so it is even cheaper. He sells a ton of guns for a little shop.
