If you could only choose one 1911 manufacture to supply you with 1911's who would it be? I am really curious to here from some of the major collectors opinions. Keep in mind they can only supply you with what they offer no custom one off guns.

I know me personally I have no clue I have not experienced enough of the different 1911 manufactures to make a choice.

Colt or Springfield Armory. Both make enough production guns in just about any fashion you could ever want.

Me I would go with SA nothing against Colt I just never owned one.

I'm no "major collector" but I prefer Springfield Armory.
Best customer service, best range of models from GI to Pro.

STI for me. Sub-$1,000 all the way up to full blown race guns. Plus, they're fellow Texans.

I have no Springfield 1911's right now, because there are other 1911's that I prefer in every price category. That said, nobody offers as complete a selection of quality 1911's in every price range. For just one manufacturer, they would be tough to beat.

HotRoderX

:wow: I am kinda stunned it seems like there are 4 manufactures in the mix with Springfield and Colt leading the pact. I guess that says a lot about there quality and service

I agree about Guncrafter, but Wilson has more options and if I could only choose one manufacture, it would be Wilson...unless...Alex could be persuaded to make an aluminum framed bobtail Commander or CCO...:whistling:

Can't see that happening any time soon. I agree though, Wilson does have a much more extensive list of offerings than GI. I just like the uniqueness of the GI builds, though. They offer a pistol that cannot be had by any other manufacturer that I know of. If I was smart enough to design a 1911 from the ground up, the GI NN is what I would have come up with. :)

springfield. have owned three and once i got up to this trp operator my quest for the ultimate 1911 has ended. i find myself looking at other pistols and then turn away as i have no desire to shoot or carry anything else.

i was in a shop and compared a loaded to a colt rail gun; the loaded was fit much better.

shot the trp operator in an idpa match last week and it was basically point and shoot, i get the front sight on target then pow, laser beam accurate. -0 or a close -1.

Agreed....my experience is that the newer Springfields are built much better than the current production Colt. Given a choice between the two, I take Springfield ten out of ten times.
