G30 gen 2.5

I've been on the lookout for a G30 and have found a seller with a gen 2.5 model (CEV prefix April 1997). He says the previous owner had the slide replaced by Glock; the slide now has an S- prefix serial number.

Is the lack of a rail the only difference between a 2.5 and a 3?

Any known issues with this old of a G30?

The older 30's are great. The rail is the basic difference between the generations
