View Full Version : Para P 16
I am looking at one of these for 3 gun matches. Anyone have one? Is the trigger as good as a regular 1911?

I've handle a few para's, and read a lot about them. I am not a fan of any para.

Cast slides, mostly lousy finishes, average fitting at best, overpriced, etc...
They aren't terrible (though some may argue), but there are always better choices in the same price range.
If you want a doublestack gun for matches, I'd save a little more for an STI. They are head and shoulders better than Para.
My P14, had 11 yrs, no problems at all, finish ok, stainless, accurate, I have no issues at all, shot weekly, 1000's of rounds, good to go for me.

The fit and finish wasn't good for the price, from what I saw.
I had a 14.45 Limited (Canadian made) a few years back, nothing wrong with it, but didn't like the blocky grip.
I just picked up a Springfield Hi-Cap 38S/9mm, which has a similar frame to the Para, but is forged.

i still need to swap the TS and trigger out on this one ;)
If You havn't been convinced already, don't do it.
As I have said here before, I had an ejector pin shear off at under 250 rounds, and it took over 4 months for me to get the gun and shipping reimbursement back after dealing with their rude and incompetent customer service.

Is that a hi cap? What model is it and will it take STI mags?
yep, it started as a .45 mil-spec hi-cap that was sent to the Custom Shop and turned into a 38S/9mm hicap. mags are para mags and the trigger actually uses the STI trigger.
here's Rob Leatham's Limited .40S&W hi-cap
