Looking for ideas on who to turn to for some smith work for my newly acquired Wilson Combat CQB. I have contacts John Harrison & Dave Severns, neither are currently accepting new work. I don't have a huge list of work needing done but far beyond my comfort zone.
I am hoping this smith can also handle my refinishing needs as well.

I would go with Wilson probably. They seem to do really nice work.
Have you checked with Erickson, Berryhill, Warner, Rodgers, Rogers, CT Brain, Christiansen, or Drake?
I feel very lucky every time that I hear John isn't taking any work. I have no idea why he took mine, but man am I glad!
What does your CQB need?
I'll say, Drake and Rodgers are not taking work, at least they weren't when I spoke to the each within the last month.

I wouldn't send Berryhill my lawnmower to work on......All the others mentioned are top shelf.

Really? I haven't seen his work first hand, but he seems like a good smith? I also added CT Brian and Christiansen to the list.

Uh oh,.....okay I got to ask, why? I've seen some awesome builds coming from them. Just wondering.

I have......and I will never again....Lesson learned. Let's just leave it at that.

Your shooting for the stars there. Last I heard Ned was over a 5 year wait, which sucks since he's so close to my house. If he'd take the smaller jobs I want, I would have done so by now.
Without knowing the work to be done, it's hard to say who's the better choice.

Sending a CQB to CT Brian would net you the world's most expensive CQB!!

That's for sure, but it would have some "bling" if it was anything like his normal stuff.
ETA - He's not taking on small jobs anyway, didn't think so anyway - http://www.ctbrian.com/Ordering.html
Depending on what you are looking for, you may want to look at Dave Helton. He does nice work and will have it done before you are eligible to start collecting Social Security, provided it even still exists by then.....:)

-Install a Gold Bead Front / .140 10-8 Rear Sight
-Fit trigger
-Round Butt or bobtail not sure yet
-Lower ejector port
-Hard hat or cerakote entire pistol
Please excuse spelling or grammatical error posting from phone

SSI for me I think not, it will be gone before Obama
Go with Wilson, they'd do be able to do everything but the finish. You wouldn't have to worry about your warranty being affected either. They may be able to send it out for the finishing too...

The CQB does not have a lowered ejection port already? I would think Wilson could do all of the above except the Hard Hat or Cerakote.

I am certainly pleased by his work. He prices are reasonable and his turn around is quicker than a lot of the aforementioned folks. At least last I heard.

If I could choose anyone for another build, it would be Chuck, hands down. I would certainly love a HP retro too.
What about Quacks Customs?

I hear Mrs Rogers takes new work when she needs something added to the house. Well, at least she tells Chuck that HE needs work I mean. :whistling:
Recent additions thanks to a certain forum member near and dear to our hearts that happens to like hardchrome and golfballs.

If Mrs Rogers is good with the estate in it's current condition, I would also look at Dave Helton. Great guy, does really good work, affordable, reasonable turnaround times.

Am I the only one who caught that he doesn't have the CQB yet, but want's the ejection port lowered and flared ( which it already is)?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my CQB came with a lowered and flared ejection port from the factory, without me asking. BTW, OP, the CQB is as really hard to beat IMO. I absolutely LOVE mine. GREAT gun.
